Gauteng MEC of Finance, @DungaLeko, met with Audit Committee Chairpersons and representatives from the Auditor-General South Africa during a strategic engagement focused on strengthening governance, accountability, financial management and service delivery across the province.
The session provided an opportunity for AGSA to present the 2024/25 audit outcomes and key recommendations, while stakeholders reflected on the collective role of leadership, oversight structures and administration in building a capable and accountable state.

CONFIRMED:
The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirms the suspension of five additional senior officers in relation to matters arising from the Medicare 24 tender.
Internal departmental processes are currently underway, and in the interest of preserving the integrity of these processes, the SAPS will not provide further comment at this stage.
A sergeant has just been arrested at the Lebombo Border Post over alleged corruption.
Details surrounding the arrest are still sketchy at this stage, but the matter is reportedly being investigated by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation.

Five senior South African Police Service generals have been suspended over their alleged involvement in the Medicare tender scandal.
The senior officers were reportedly served with suspension notices on Friday.
The matter is understood to form part of ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities linked to the controversial Medicare tender.
Several other police officers were suspended recently. They have been charged criminally.

Julius Malema has filed an urgent contempt of court application in the High Court, Pretoria, against Ngizwe Mchunu.
The application seeks an order declaring Mchunu guilty of contempt of court and sentencing him to 6 months' imprisonment without the option of a fine.
Mchunu intentionally and unlawfully continued making defamatory statements about the CIC in defiance of a court order granted on 5 June 2026, and intentionally and unlawfully refused to comply with and respect that order.
The matter is scheduled to be heard on 17 June 2026.
