@cityofwinnipeg This year has been one of THE WORST years for snow plowing in the city. Did someone forget we are a winter city?! Where are the plows? Why wait until it stops snowing and the snow is packed down? Horrible planning all to save a few bucks.
Got to attend the @mbhrn annual general meeting virtually this morning and really love this Leslie Spillet quote: "being a shit disturber is an act of love" ❤️
This is Native American month and I want you to spend it looking for Indigenous people. Look for us in your theology. In your movements. In your circles. In your books. In your movies. In your towns and your streets and your parks.
Notice us. Notice our absence.
@Iloradanon We generally don’t cite them anymore. You don’t have to be indigenous to do indigenous research but you better be honest about your connections to community. If you’re dishonest—you get cut. It’s about integrity. That’s my Pennies rt
I love treaty 3 LOTW but I can’t help but feel pretty upset every time I’m there and witness the whiteness and wealth of who “owns” cottage land out there. It’s not right and as a Nish, I’d like some of that #LandBack
To be clear I'm bitter about cottages in Treaty 3 because Anishinaabe families were being herded off into residential schools while those intergenerational priorities were being built.
Pretendianism is a fast-spreading disease. I’m so disappointed. And you know this is just the tip of the iceberg. Makes the need for verification of claims to Indigeneity by our own people even more necessary.

@northendmc I’d like to do some research on decriminalizing drug use and sex work to advocate for this. We need some people pushing for this change in how we see people who use drugs—why are we criminalizing people with addictions that materialize largely from untreated trauma?
I really think we would have a better world if we decriminalized all drugs and started treating people's harmful substance use as a health challenge - while simultaneously enhancing our health care system to be anti racist and trauma informed. 🌐
Here are the events on Monday, October 4 for the Day of Action and Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit Peoples - please support this great alliance of orgs
If every child matters, we must acknowledge & support the children that did make it home.
Today, those kids are seniors and adults who struggle w/homelessness, harmful substance use, suicide.

Survivors of the residential schools spent six years of ceremony, storytelling, collaboration, and reliving trauma to produce 94 *Calls to Action.*
These are not “recommendations.” There are no options here.
We have work to do and here is our assignment: https://t.co/G5uXN5jckC
