On this day in 1979: Victory in Nicaragua! 🧵
On July 19th, 1979, Nicaraguan revolutionaries (also known as the Sandinistas or FSLN) deposed the right-wing U.S.-backed Somoza dictatorship, and put power back into the hands of the Nicaraguan people.
As death tolls rise in Iran and gas prices soar back up in the U.S., Trump promises more war crimes, threatening to bomb civilian bridges and power plants in Iran's capital city of Tehran.
This has to end. STOP TRUMP'S WAR ON IRAN!
BREAKING: Large crowds are gathering in Madison, WI outside the state Capitol after Madison PD officers shot and killed Corey Ruiz this afternoon.
JUSTICE FOR COREY RUIZ!
Corey Ruiz should be alive. But yesterday, Madison PD officers murdered him in cold blood. This is the kind of brutality and terror which Black Americans are subjected to daily—we need to put a leash on these killer cops and put power in the hands of the people. It’s time to hit the streets and fight back.
Justice for Corey! Jail killer cops! Community control of the police now!
(2/2) The FRSO also described the difficulty of engaging with other unions because many are not ready to stand up against attacks on the working class. “We must struggle to position the labor movement on the basis of class struggle,” it said.
The FRSO cited emerging struggles and campaigns beyond the labor sector, particularly among oppressed nationalities, women, LGBT and other sectors. It leads for instance the campaign against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and mass deportations.
“The FRSO has long been rooted in the movement for immigrant rights in the US, giving us an advantage to lead major actions against ICE and Trump’s agenda of mass deportation,” the FRSO stated. This has awakened many to see beyond mere racism and injustice, and towards monopolistic-capitalist oppression suffered by both American workers and immigrants.
Unity with anti-Trump forces
The scale and intensity of Trump’s attacks pose a major challenge to the American people’s struggle. “They are so many and so wide-ranging that it becomes impossible to develop campaigns or fight all of them,” the FRSO said. Nevertheless, the group believes these intensifying contradictions in the US create an excellent situation for revolutionaries like them to advance and grow stronger.
“We are developing a broad front against Trump’s agenda,” it said. This means the FRSO must be ready to cooperate with various forces, including those it disagrees with politically and ideologically. “This opens the path to reach millions of masses.”
The severity of the regime’s policies and actions prompted millions of Americans to march the streets over the past two years to oppose them. The FRSO aims to strengthen the struggle until Trump finds the US “ungovernable.”
Strengthening the anti-imperialist struggle
The FRSO also carries its duty to unite with people worldwide to strengthen the anti-imperialist struggle in the belly of imperialism. The group believes that from Palestine to the Philippines, all oppressed peoples of the world and the American working class have one common enemy: US imperialism. “This is why we seriously take on the task of fighting US imperialism,” it said.
FRSO cadres in many US cities lead and act in mass anti-war organizations that continue to grow stronger. The FRSO actively mobilized against US warmongering and intervention in Venezuela, Iran and Cuba. “Driving back this enemy is necessary, and this is the practical application of proletarian internationalism,” the FRSO said.
The group shared that its leadership has made a large contribution to anti-imperialist struggles through its efforts to build a party. Many new cadres have been recruited from the most advanced leaders of this mass movement, the group said.
“There are many challenges, but there are many possibilities as well,” the FRSO declared.
🧵 (1/2) The FRSO is circulating the following article published in Ang Bayan, the official publication of the Communist Party of the Philippines, on July 21st, 2026.

"Forging the Class Struggle of the American People"
The American people’s livelihood is plunging deeper, and they suffer as the US reactionary state under Donald Trump increasingly turns toward fascism. At the same time, US imperialism relentlessly pursues warmongering and interventionism.
Even manipulated US government data recorded in November 2025 the highest unemployment rate since 2021 (4.5%). The country’s poverty rate was 10.6% in 2024.
Under Trump’s leadership, large American corporations in finance, commerce, oil, automobile manufacturing, arms, pharmaceuticals, electronics and other sectors are profiting immensely. Meanwhile, he enforces ultra-right, racist, fascist, anti-democratic, anti-immigrant, anti-women, anti-LGBT and ultra-nationalist policies and measures.
Deepening economic and political crisis prompt the American people to unite and take action for their rights and welfare. One political force leading the forging of the class struggle of the American people is the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO).
The FRSO is a national organization of revolutionaries who advance socialism in the US. It fights for social justice especially for workers, oppressed peoples and nationalities. The group is also active in struggles for immigrant rights, youth-student movements and anti-war campaigns. It strengthens the goal of establishing a communist party guided by Marxism-Leninism.
Applied to mass struggle
In an interview with Ang Bayan, the FRSO emphasized the importance of a materialist assessment of the masses’ conditions toward organizing the working class and oppressed communities. Their conditions and the degree of their readiness to change their situation must be ascertained. “This is the foundation for applying the mass line and launching large actions,” the FRSO said.
They said mobilizing unions as the organized section of the working class centers on wages and working conditions. It is also based on workers’ experience of discrimination by nationality and gender. “We measure the masses’ sentiments through social investigations—by interviewing them,” the group shared.
The FRSO studies the particular characteristics of each sector in every area of labor. For example, they value studying the different laws in the 50 states that govern public-sector unions. “We need to understand these to lead the unions,” the group said.
Protesting ICE is not a crime! Statement on Minneapolis Anti-ICE Activists Targeted with Federal Repression
This morning, June 16th, there were multiple coordinated raids on immigrant rights activists in the Twin Cities. At least 15 people have been indicted, with the U.S. Grand Jury charging “conspiracy to impede or injure a federal officer,” alongside a number of other trumped-up charges.
The fact is, people here in the Twin Cities correctly and courageously stood up to Operation Metro Surge and built an outpouring of militant resistance to ICE terror. People from all walks of life were in the streets to oppose deportations and ICE agents. Now the government is cracking back. These kinds of bogus charges are part of framing community defense and activism as terrorism, and they want to intimidate and repress the immigrant rights movement by criminalizing protest.
This isn’t the first go-round with the feds retaliating against anti-ICE activists since the beginning of the year, with attempts to scare the immigrant rights movement into submission. It didn’t work before, and it wont work this time, either. This is a serious attack, and we are going to stand with these activists. We should be prepared to defend all those who are being targeted and persecuted, and to fight the charges.
Stop deportations!
