One way you can tell these people do not go to church is that they have no idea what one 67-year-old lady from Redeemer Lutheran can fit in a station wagon. This is a 2/10 on the church potluck scale, not even trying that hard.
[endless laughter] ahhh yes the radical fringe (5th largest protestant denomination in the county) (if you see a traditional looking church building in MN you assume it's ELCA) (there are at least 4 within walking distance of my house in the Twin Cities)
As a confessional Lutheran, I'm getting a lot of questions about Tim Walz possibly being Lutheran. FWIW, Walz is ELCA, an extremely left-wing sub-denomination. You may be familiar with the ELCA due to some of their congregations using the “sparkle creed” or hosting drag shows.
@Drowlord101@KaivanShroff She was an extremely prominent state lawmaker, and was speaker of the MN house for six years. She had a long career of public service and did an immense amount of good for the state. He was......a right wing celebrity, I guess?
@Gebo___ The meltdown about this is wild. I lived close enough to a mosque in Bangkok to hear the call to prayer for two years and it was... nothing? vaguely nice to mark time, if anything.
@FlippinLid@WallStreetApes buddy I can hear hymns on the bells from the Lutheran church near my house. The Catholic church a mile away does it too, you can hear it in the little downtown.
@Deel_icious@dunebarbie Oh man I forgot about that! Once I hit puberty I sounded exactly like my mom, so I would say it super fast to get to my name or people would jump in after "Hello, Surnames'— " because they thought they were talking to her, and then I had to get myself out of THAT.
Many Christians also emphasize a distinction between “legal” and “illegal” immigration to skirt clear scriptural calls to care for immigrants at the exact same time they sponsor missionaries who tell blatant falsehoods on paperwork to enter areas where they are not welcome.
