Today I attended the flag raising on Parliament Hill to celebrate the Philippines’ 126th Independence Day, a day to celebrate the sacrifices and contributions made by Filipinos around the 🌏, including the 1 million who call 🇨🇦 home.

This week, our NPPIP interns visited the Liberal Research Bureau (LRB) to learn about how they support our government. It was a great experience that allowed the interns to look further inside of the political process and learn about the important role of LRB.

While enjoying a quick treat, the interns were treated to a special surprise by meeting Canada’s Minister of Transport, @OmarAlghabra! Thank you for taking the time to speak with these bright young minds, Minister!

Our interns visited Canada’s Cold War Museum. Ottawa is a great place to learn more about Canada’s important history, and understand the moments that have shaped our country.

Last week, our interns had the honour of spending some time with the Philippines’ Ambassador to Canada, Maria Andrelita S. Austria. Meeting with @msaustria1 was a great way for the interns to kick off Filipino Heritage Month! 🇨🇦🇵🇭

Last week, our interns visited the National Gallery of Canada! It is wonderful to see them expand their horizons and enjoy both Canadian and historical art exhibits. The @NatGalleryCan is a great way to learn about our nation’s artists and artistic history. 🇨🇦🎨

Juliana Manalo is a 1st year student at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business. Juliana is interning with MP @WilsonMiaoRC! She is also the Founder and CEO of the Vancouver Kindness Movement, a non-profit organization she started in high school.
