Hahaha NAPAKALAYO:

1) CORRUPTION. Duterte presided over a very corrupt regime (e.g. ghost flood control projects, Pharmally, massive pork barrel corruption, etc). LKY eradicated it, starting by ensuring that the corrupt are meted severe sentences. Duterte freed the corrupt and tolerated corruption.

2) ECONOMIC MGT - No comparison here at all! LKY had an excellent track record. Duterte was totally incompetent - promoted his own cronies, overborrowed to the tune of almost P7 TRILLION without building a SINGLE big ticket infrastructure project.

3) Governance and the Rule of Law - Duterte governed as a despot with him seemingly above the law, weaponizing it to harass his opponents. LKY was a stickler for the rule of law, ie, no one is above the law. As a result, SGP became a very attractive investment destination for FDIs.

If Duterte was benevolent, he wouldn’t be in The Hague.

4) Institutions - Duterte weakened institutions - the police, the judiciary, COA, customs, DPWH, human rights, etc. LKY built one of the best bureaucracies in the world known for both efficiency and incorruptibility.

5) Infrastructure Development - Duterte was all talk about BUILD3, a cornerstone program that yielded exactly ZERO big ticket infrastructure developed. Worse, he shamelessly credit grabbed PPPs. LKY developed SGP’s infrastructure without much fanfare. Duterte was all empty bravado; he couldn’t even fix Davao’s decrepit airport.
