@techMosavvy@drcoderz@rive_app@FlutterDev Yes! @techMosavvy I've removed my previous responsive UI implementation in expressionUI and am now using the rive layouts.
the development for it paused for a bit because rive started building all the functionality into rive that I was building in expression UI.
3 years ago I featured in a 100s video on @fireship_dev
One of the best programming video series on YouTube
Here’s my story of how I got a collaboration on the best software dev channel.
It started with my video explaining the process of implementing state management and turning that into an architecture using Flutter.
After publishing the video I got a surprise comment from Fireship.
At this time I had only 600 subs so I was extremely happy to see this.
I’ve been studying Jeff’s videos for months, since before the channel name change to Fireship.
I wanted to make EXACTLY the same style tutorials.
It wasn’t long until I received a message on twitter asking if he can feature my channel in a video.
Top 12 Flutter Tips & Tricks.
Of course I said yes immediately.
I was using @rive to build awesome, expressive mobile app UI’s so Jeff included my channel under one of the tips and tricks, to learn Rive.
2 years later I get an email from Jeff to have a chat.
I tell @Jeffdelaney23 about my awesome firebase functions setup I use for client backends and sent him a tutorial I wrote on my setup.
He was happy and asked me to make the tutorial to go after the 100 seconds of serverless video.
In addition to this video Jeff also motivated me to become a google developer expert.
Unfortunately I miss understood him and became a Flutter Expert, he wanted me to be a Firebase expert 😅 that’s a story for another post.
You’ll notice I actually gave no steps on what I did to “achieve this”.
I would love to say that my knowledge and creativity are the reasons this all happened.
But this story says more about Jeff than any content I could ever create.
Any new channel making interesting content got bit of his spotlight.
Anyone that consistently posted on YouTube.
Anyone that posted about topics he’s interested in.
Jeff would find a way to give them exposure.
I drew a few of you in with the hook, hoping to share some the awesomeness behind the wildest programming content creator out there.
And also if you’re reading this Jeff, thanks for the content and lol’s I still watch every video.

4 Unexpected Improvements From Building Apps With ExpressionUI
My goal is to find a fun and more expressive way to build mobile apps.
I didn’t expect the following:
1. A visual widget library
2. Complimentary development style
3. Improved state management and transitions
4. Drastic improvements to the UI maintenance process
Later today I'll share with 309 developers the details of these benefits I’ve experienced, while building my app with ExpressionUI.

Building a mobile app ui SHOULD be this easy.
1. Design in Figma
2. Open ExpressionUI plugin
3. Export the render data (not code)
Display your UI in Flutter, React-Native, SwiftUI, or Kotlin.
No generated code for you to maintain or edit.

The good old days 😁
We're building some really cool internal tools for mobile app development.
Can't wait to share it with you all 🔥

5 years ago I shared a video about building app UI on the rive-runtime
3 days ago I shared a video about building app UI on the rive-runtime
What’s different?
The rive-runtime is mature, improved, and makes for a great alternative approach to building app UI.
It’s why I’m building ExpressionUI on top of it.
A fun and more expressive way to build mobile app UI, for any framework (React-Native, Flutter, Swift(UI), Kotlin MM)
The Benefits?
- 90% less UI code to maintain
- Create your UI in a visual editor
- Use it in any framework you prefer
- Coming Soon: Edit your UI in Figma and run directly through ExpressionUI 👀👀👀
I've been experimenting with a fun way of building mobile app ui for Flutter, React-Native, and SwiftUI.
Today I hit my first blocker.
I can't set the height of my UI 😅 More in the video 👇
Working on my list item using expressionUI
I like the animation in the button that slides the old icon out and the new one in.
Kinda crazy that I can have this exact UI in react-native, swiftUI, Jetpack compose, and Flutter.
@creativeEmperor Absolutely!
I've been using the StackedCLI to build this new app and I have a few templates I'll add to use this approach using Stacked.
I've been searching for a fun, fast, and more expressive way to build mobile app UI.
I'm happy to see so many of you interested in it and supporting the project by sharing, commenting and engaging with the idea.
⭐️⭐️ We have +150 stars already ⭐️⭐️
And it's not only from the Flutter community.
We have a react-native example, and the Kotlin PR is in progress 🔥
Thank you to everyone dedicating their time to expression UI.
For context, it's an open-source project dedicated to allowing the creation of mobile app UI using the rive open-source runtime.
I'm building my new app Tidy Plan and I'm sure my cute mascot will gain a lot of life through this expressive way of building app UI.
Current work:
We have 3 PR's in progress from 3 contributors:
- Dynamic list items using rive artboards
- Carousel / page views using rive artboards
- Kotlin example app 🔥
All we need now is a swiftUI implementation then we'll cover all 4 major frameworks mobile app developers are using.
Upcoming work:
Next week I will be designing the example app UI to showcase all the features we've created so far.
I want to have this UI implemented in all 4 frameworks using expression UI.
This will allows us to understand what's needed for the implementation on each framework.
We'll use all this to create our first 4 packages for the mobile app space.
- Flutter
- React-Native
- Kotlin
- Swift
If you'd like to help out DM me and I'll you to our Discord.
If you want to support, please give the repo a star n github.
