#NayyiNavelli — 3/5 ⭐
A refreshing blend of horror, comedy and fantasy, elevated by Yami Gautam’s standout performance.

#DrishyamTheConclusion’s box office run is an interesting case study.
Despite positive reviews and a ₹60 crore+ opening, the film is struggling to cross ₹400 crore nett.
This looked like Ajay Devgn’s strongest opportunity to enter the ₹500 crore nett club, but that milestone remains elusive.
Which film will finally get him there?

#Jailer2 | #CinemaWithParth
Watched #Jailer2 at Dolby Cinema, Pune. The presentation was a standard 4K DCP with Dolby Atmos in the scope aspect ratio, not FLAT.
The film picks up exactly where #Jailer left off, and Nelson gets the first half almost entirely right. Good drama, situational comedy, engaging character arcs and a couple of brilliantly staged elevation sequences make for a thoroughly satisfying experience. I was genuinely invested and felt I was in for a proper commercial entertainer. Rajinikanth sir's screen presence and Anirudh's terrific background score elevate several moments beautifully. I absolutely loved the first half.
However, the film begins to lose its grip in the second half. The writing and screenplay become increasingly unfocused, the narrative loses momentum, and several scenes are stretched well beyond their natural length. I honestly feel the film could have been shorter by at least 30 minutes without losing anything substantial.
The two item songs were another disappointment. Neither adds much to the narrative, and both feel like interruptions rather than organic parts of the film. And Ala Bolelo? At times, I genuinely felt the background dancers were looking better than the lead performer.
The cameos are another missed opportunity. While Hrithik Roshan's appearance works well, with an enjoyable action sequence and some impressive stunt work by the girls, the cameos of Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff don't leave the same impact for me as they did in the first film. Their presence should have added more weight to the narrative, but the writing doesn't make the most of them.
Despite these shortcomings, #Jailer2 remains watchable, thanks to its strong cinematography, effective background score, comedy in the first half and decent performances across the cast. The technical craft often keeps the film afloat even when the screenplay starts sinking.
Commercially, I can see the film finding success. But as a cinematic experience, the second half significantly undermines what could have been a much stronger sequel.
VERDICT: A thoroughly entertaining first half followed by a disappointing second half. A missed opportunity that remains watchable, but never quite delivers on its potential.
