I’ve been diving back into her music lately, and honestly… she might be one of the most underrated musicians of all time.

Her version of Autumn Leaves still gets me every single time. There’s something completely otherworldly about her voice and phrasing.

This documentary tells the story of a small, almost-forgotten gig in 1996, a night that nearly didn’t happen, but ended up becoming the foundation of her incredible posthumous success.

It’s a beautiful reminder of how powerful simple, honest music can be.

The political left has been so focused on debunking the trickle-down economy that it has paid no attention to how the trickle-up effect, via mega-corporations to the richest 0.01%, is weakening local economies and democracy. We need to put an end to aggressive tax planning and shine a light on how industries like banking, oil, and tobacco still maintain such a tight hold on local governments.
