this youtuber with 9m subs saw his wife struggle to find a quality wheelchair — $5k price tags, long waits, made in china
so he built his own factory in the USA
now, he sells these $1,000 custom wheelchairs, shipped in weeks
we need more creator-led businesses like this.
When it comes to the business of making cars, like it or not, there is sheriff in town.
His name: China.
For most Americans, such a statement is hard to process, let alone accept.
If China is so high and mighty, why don't we see their cars on the streets of New York, LA and Chicago, they ask me.
But here's the thing: We in America are on an island, a walled garden, unable to see the tidal wave of Chinese cars flooding into markets across the planet.
Go to Mexico, Australia, the UK, Thailand, Spain, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Brazil. You will see the Chinese cars. In numbers.
• Enough capacity to supply half of global demand. Half!
• Builds and buys more EVs than all other countries combined. 12 million in 2024 – ten times more than the US.
• Exports more cars to more nations than any other country, surpassing Japan and Germany. 6 million in 2024.
Wait, what?
How did we get here?
What happens when we separate China EV growth from global EV growth in 2024?
EV Growth Rates 2024 (f)
China: +32%
USA : +9%
Europe: +2% (diminished by Germany)
Germany: -16% (incentives went away)
Japan: -12%
China buys more EVs than all other markets combined.
Takeaway:
China: sprinting
America: jogging
Europe: strolling
Germany and Japan: backsliding
