#HornOfAfrica: Commenting on Washington’s recent visa restrictions, @_hudsonc said the move signals that the U.S. is backing PM Abiy Ahmed as tensions continue to escalate between the federal gov’t & Tigray’s leadership.

“A 76-year-old woman has been arrested for speaking her mind. This is an attack on freedom of expression. Shame on TPLF release mother Akeza immediately.”💔@DrTedros@UNHumanRights@UN_Women
#Tigray: The U.S. said it is imposing visa restrictions on hardline members of the TPLF & their immediate family members.
@StateDept said the new visa restriction is meant to target individuals responsible for, or complicit in, undermining peace.

#Ashenda ambassador #Zema, while explaining why people are emigrating to Sudan due to the ongoing Genocide, she said that Ethiopians—no, let me correct that for you, the Ethiopians—committed genocide against the Tigray people, so they fled to Sudan for safety. However, she couldn't even say that and instead exploited the #TigrayGenocide for personal gain. Many seem to use the #TigrayGenocide to gain fame, leveraging the suffering of the Tigrayan people as a stepping stone to notoriety and money. It’s troubling to see how many unscrupulous individuals are willing to profit from the pain and hardship caused by the #TigrayGenocide for their own benefit… Disgusting

#Op_ed: Ancient Identity, Sacred Continuity: Why #Axum ‘holy city’ decree reaffirms 3,000-year continuum, protects living heritage
Following the May 2026 declaration by the Synod of the #Tigray Orthodox Tewahedo Church designating Axum as an exclusively Christian “Holy City,” Tsegay Fseha argues that the status “simply codifies an ancient, unbroken sacred identity.”
He emphasizes that "officially designating Axum as a holy city actively strengthens and validates its inscription on the #UNESCO World Heritage List.”
Tsegay notes, "Preserving Axum’s 3,000-year continuous Christian identity and guarding the absolute epicenter of Christian civilization is not a political policy... It is the sacred, historical, and moral duty of every Christian citizen."

A short sentence sums up Getachew Reda article’s bias in Al Jazeera: “Pretoria Agreement’s implementation was a work in progress.” Progress toward what, exactly? A blockade of fuel, medicines, and cash? The suspension of federal funding transfers? 1/2
#InPicture: Olusegun Obasanjo, the AU’s special envoy for the Horn of Africa, arrived in Mekelle on Thursday as part of a renewed diplomatic push by the African Union to ease mounting tensions between the federal government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front.

We are hearing deeply disturbing reports that approximately 65 Ethiopians, reportedly the vast majority of them Tigrayans, have been executed in Saudi Arabia.
Many Tigrayans have faced immense hardship in recent years, including mass killings, war, displacement, insecurity, limited opportunities, and pressures in their own country, treating them not only as second class citizens, but enemies.
These domestic scenarios have driven migration of the youth toward Yemen and Saudi Arabia in search of safety and livelihoods.
Reports of persecution and abuse against vulnerable migrants in transit and destination countries have long been a source of concern.
These disturbing news of executions we are receiving represent a grave violation of human dignity and fundamental human rights.
I strongly condemn such actions and call for transparency, accountability, and respect for international human rights standards.
Every human life deserves dignity, justice, and protection.
