Thankfully, the guard/concierge (who ripped off his tie at exactly 3:30pm and stuffed it in a drawer), is kind to let you out the metal man-door. Unfortunately, the kind bank staff feel pressured to stay until 7:00pm shuffling paper, even though official let off time is 5:20pm.
The byzantine banking system in Taiwan is well-addressed by other frustrated foreigners so I won't talk about how it took several hours to close an account. Instead, I was amused again by how the gates comes down at 3:30pm sharp "trapping" the remaining customers inside.
