Making British businesses easier to find. ๐ฌ๐ง From trades and independent shops to farmers, makers and manufacturers. Buy British. Back Britain. ๐ฌ๐ง
Welcome to FindABrit ๐ฌ๐ง
FindABrit has one simple mission: to make British businesses easier to find and easier to support.
Britain is full of brilliant independent shops, tradespeople, farmers, makers, manufacturers, family businesses and entrepreneurs, and I want to make it easier for people who genuinely want to support them to actually find them.
For now, every business listing on FindABrit is completely free, and it'll stay that way until I believe the site is providing businesses with genuine value. That might take two weeks or it might take two years. I'm not going to charge a British business simply for having its name sitting on a website nobody visits. I have to earn the right to charge first.
When I can genuinely justify charging, FindABrit will cost just ยฃ4.99 a month. Some of the better-known business directories can charge ยฃ20, ยฃ30 or more every month, and I don't want FindABrit to become another one of them. There'll be no expensive tiers, hidden extras or sneaky price rises once I've got you through the door.
That ยฃ4.99 will help cover the hosting, development, maintenance and promotion needed to keep growing the site and, most importantly, put British businesses in front of more people who actually want to support them. Until I can deliver that, my job is to build something worth paying for.
There's one other part of FindABrit that's particularly important to me. From the very beginning, I'll be awarding selected lifetime complimentary memberships to great British businesses and individuals doing exceptional things for their communities.
That could be supporting local causes, raising money for charity, volunteering, helping veterans, preserving British skills and traditions, supporting other local businesses or simply going above and beyond for the people around them. If I award you one, it's yours for life. If FindABrit becomes a paid service, you'll never have to worry about paying a subscription to remain listed.
I'll find some of these people myself, but I'll also welcome nominations. So if you know a British business or individual doing something genuinely worthwhile for their community, tell me about them.
Not everything worthwhile needs to be monetised. Sometimes the people doing good things for Britain and their communities deserve a little backing themselves.
Buy British. Support British. Back British. ๐ฌ๐ง
Thanks for the advice, mate ๐๐ป I do appreciate it.
At the moment, though, I just can't justify charging while the site is still new. If it ends up doing what I hope it does for the businesses listed, then naturally a small listing fee may come later, but it has to make sense and genuinely offer them value in return.
Just a little announcement regarding FindABrit ๐ฌ๐ง
While the aim is to support British businesses, being a British business doesn't automatically guarantee a place on the directory.
FindABrit is curated, and every application is looked at individually. Please take a moment before applying to consider whether your business genuinely fits with what we're trying to build.
We've already had everything from betting websites and incredibly niche online services to, and I promise I'm not making this up, a business dedicated to moulded chocolate anuses and other anus-based products ๐
I admire the entrepreneurial spirit, I really do, but some things simply aren't going to make the cut.
The goal isn't to collect as many listings as possible. It's to build a useful, trusted directory of great British businesses that people will actually want to use and support ๐ฌ๐ง
@pendaoffa I'm sorry. If it's any consolation, you can DM me for the website address. They even sell a kit where you can mould your own.
I've always fancied myself a chocolatier. My family are in for a hell of a shock when they open the Roses tub this Christmas ๐
This week's mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help me find some truly great British producers ๐ฌ๐ง
I want to find the farms, farm shops and independent producers around the country selling directly to the public.
I'm talking British meat straight from the farm, fresh eggs, milk, cheese, fruit and veg, honey, preserves and anything else grown, reared or produced here at home.
There are plenty of people who genuinely want to buy more of their food directly from British farmers and producers. The problem is, half the time we simply don't know what's available on our own doorstep.
So, if you know a fantastic local farm, farm shop or British food producer, tag them below or let them know about FindABrit, and let's see if we can get them onboard.
And as always, thank you to everyone who's been helping, sharing and sending businesses my way. It's genuinely appreciated ๐๐ป
Good morning, everyone! ๐ฌ๐ง
Yesterday I said we'd be adding Taxis & Private Hire to the directory, and we already have our first one!
A warm welcome to CYBERCABZ AIRPORT TRANSFERS, run by Clive in Milton Keynes. ๐โ๏ธ
Clive offers airport transfers, ferry port runs and long-distance journeys, with one big difference: you know exactly who your driver is going to be. He's fully licensed and insured, with both driver and vehicle vetted to local authority standards.
So, if you've got a trip coming up and fancy supporting an independent British driver rather than playing what Clive calls "taxi roulette", take a look ๐ฌ๐ง

That's actually exactly why I've included farms and farm shops. The idea is to help people find those selling directly to the public.
And I completely understand you on price. Farmers need a fair price, but ordinary people need to be able to afford their produce regularly too.
My hope is that if we can bring farms more direct customers, the increased trade can benefit both sides. They won't always beat supermarket prices, but fair prices for the farmer and customer would be a win in my book.
Morning all! ๐ฌ๐ง
A few of you have asked for taxi drivers and firms, along with security guards and security companies offering their services, to be added to FindABrit.
And unlike our government, I actually listen to people... sometimes. ๐
I'll be adding both Taxis & Private Hire and Security Services to the directory today.
If there are any other trades, services or types of British business you think I've somehow managed to miss, chuck them below and I'll take a look.
Have a great Sunday ๐ฌ๐ง
A little FindABrit update ๐ฌ๐ง
A few of you have pointed out businesses and trades I somehow managed to completely overlook when building the original categories.
So, by popular demand, I've been busy expanding the directory.
๐ Security
๐ Taxis & Private Hire
๐บ Antiques & Collectables
All have now been added to FindABrit, with more to come as the directory grows.
The aim is eventually to have a place for just about every great British business worth finding.

Another British business has joined FindABrit ๐ฌ๐ง
Welcome to Authentic Antique Arms, specialists in genuine antique arms and militaria.
Great to have you listed and supporting what we're building.
Take a look at their listing below ๐

@antique_arms
That's genuinely one of the nicest compliments I've had on this journey. Making it as user-friendly as possible was high on my list from the start.
There's plenty more I want to do, but this has become far more popular than I ever imagined and I'm being bombarded from every direction. My head's spinning.
Honestly, I owe you guys. It was the comments and chats we all had on my other profile that gave me the kick up the arse I needed to actually do something instead of just ranting, and the support I had there gave me the confidence to give it a proper go.
Thank you
Welcome to FindABrit, Martin the London Bricklayer! ๐ฌ๐ง
Another British tradesman joins the directory.
Martin is a London-based bricklayer, and we're very pleased to have him on board.
Give his listing a look and show him some support ๐

@Lou_Gooner77@KieraDiss Youโd have more chance of getting Zack Polanski to promote me than Mark. Itโs a long story, and one that involves an unreasonable number of insults ๐
