Through the UNDP Climate Peace Hub – Phase 2 Project, FINDEF is strengthening agricultural resilience across Illela LGA, Sokoto State by investing in long-term infrastructure.

A cold storage facility to preserve perishable produce.
A sun-drying system to enable efficient processing.
A model farm designed for practical, hands-on learning.

Each element serves a purpose; reducing post-harvest losses, improving product quality, and expanding income opportunities for farmers.

Beyond immediate intervention, these facilities stand as shared community assets—supporting productivity, value addition, and sustained livelihoods over time.

This is what it means to move from short-term support to lasting systems.

Real change doesn’t happen in classrooms alone, it happens on the field.

In Illela, Sokoto State, FINDEF, through the UNDP Climate Peace Hub – Phase 2 Project, brought farmers together for something more than training, it was transformation.

Through the Farmer Field School (FFS), farmers didn’t just learn… they practiced, asked questions, and tested solutions in real time.

From climate-smart farming techniques to natural pest control methods like neem, the focus was simple:
practical knowledge that works.

And the impact goes beyond those present.

Each trained farmer becomes a source of knowledge within their community; sharing, guiding, and strengthening others across Amarawa, Munwadatta, Sonani, Illela, Kalmalo and other communities.

This is how resilience is built.
This is how communities grow stronger.

One farmer.
One lesson.
One ripple at a time.

Planting seeds for stronger, more resilient communities 🌱

Under the Climate Peace Hub Phase 2 Project, implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme @UNDP, FINDEF supported 1,000 irrigation farmers across Illela LGA, Sokoto State with improved vegetable seeds.

From pepper and tomato to cabbage and carrot, these inputs are more than seeds-they are tools for increased productivity, improved nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods.

This intervention strengthens climate resilience, supports household food security, and empowers farmers to adapt, grow, and thrive despite climate challenges. Because when farmers are equipped, communities become stronger.

Empowering girls. Restoring dignity. Building futures.

Through the REACH Project in partnership with @UNICEF_Nigeria, FINDEF has equipped 1,950 adolescent girls in Katsina State with practical, in-demand skills such as knitting, crochet, henna design, cap making, and throw pillow production -creating pathways to financial independence and resilience.

Beyond skills, this initiative has provided psychosocial support and healing to over 750 survivors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), while also training hundreds of participants as peer mentors to sustain impact within their communities.

This is more than a program, it is a movement breaking cycles of poverty, exclusion, and inequality, and unlocking the potential of every girl.

In partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) @WFP, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (FMHAPA), and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) @ecowas_cedeao, @FINDEF1 supported the distribution of Super Cereal Plus (CSB++) to over 6,000 malnourished children (Under-2), and pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls (PBWGs) in Jibia LGA, Katsina State. Malnutrition remains a critical public health challenge affecting not just children, but entire communities.

In response, FINDEF, in partnership with Solidarités International (SI) @Solidarites_Int and with support from the French Embassy (AAP- Aide Alimentaire Program), implemented a school feeding programme across Anka, Gusau, Maru, and Talata Mafara in Zamfara State.

During the 2024/2025 academic session:
🍽️ 59,514 meals were provided
👧🏽 2,824 learners supported

Beyond meals, this initiative strengthened schools and communities, enhancing hygiene practices, improving food preparation standards, and equipping school teams with tools to better support and track learners.

The impact?
Increased school enrollment, improved participation, and better learning outcomes for children.

Because when children are nourished, they are empowered to learn, grow, and thrive.

@FINDEF1 conducted a two-day training for 40 Community Nutrition Champions (CNCs)—individuals equipped to lead change at the grassroots level.

These champions will drive Mother-to-Mother Support Groups across communities, creating safe spaces where women can learn, share, and support one another on key nutrition practices.

From exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding to maternal nutrition and child care, the focus is clear:
empowering families with the right information to make healthier choices.

By addressing harmful myths and promoting positive behavioural change, these champions are helping improve the nutritional well-being of mothers and children—one community at a time.

Because lasting impact begins with informed communities.

@FINDEF1 joined key stakeholders to commemorate the African Day of School Feeding in Zamfara State.

In collaboration with the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB) and with support from @Solidarites_Int, the engagement highlighted the critical role of school feeding programmes in improving child nutrition, increasing school enrolment, and enhancing learning outcomes.

The event also reinforced the importance of partnerships and collective action in ensuring the sustainability of school feeding initiatives across the state.
