The ribbon cutting at the landmark Limondale Battery Storage project took place today. This was special because it was the first project awarded a LTESA (Long Term Energy Service Agreement) for long duration storage in NSW - this was the first and only project to secure one of these contracts in the initial round, significantly de-risking this technology and the financing model
The system is made up of 144 Tesla Megapacks with a storage capacity of at least 400 MWh with the ability to provide energy for over eight hours - meaning it's now the longest duration battery operating in Australia
Most existing Australian grid batteries are 2-4 hours which is great for frequency control, short term arbitrage and peak shaving. Eight hour storage can shift large amounts of daytime solar across the evening peak and into periods of lower wind/solar output
The Tesla Megapacks use grid-forming inverters and create their own stable voltage signal instead of tracking the existing grid frequency. The system can draw power from the grid, or the adjacent 314 MW Limondale Solar Farm
"We are incredibly proud to deliver the Limondale BESS. As one of Australia’s most significant battery storage projects, it represents a major step forward for long-duration energy storage and contributes to a more reliable, resilient, and sustainable energy system" - CEO of RWE Renewables Australia
@DronusAdelaide@TeslaAUNZ@Tesla_AI Why touch the steering wheel to change lane? Just turn on the blinker to the lane you want to change to and FSD should then change lane for you.
Model Y was the best selling vehicle of any kind in Australia for the month of May
Making it the first electric car in history to lead the overall AU sales charts across all fuel types
@techAU Esperance in WA, where some of the lithium mining companies export spodumene through Port of Esperance from Mt Marion and Bald Hill ... exported to China, processed into battery-grade lithium hydroxide, with some eventually becoming part of lithium batteries in a Tesla.
WE SET THE NEW YORK CITY TO LA FSD CANNONBALL RUN RECORD!
Zero disengagements or human intervention on FSD v14.3.2 for 2,833 miles! 49:55:57, beating previous record by ~8.5 hours!
Huge shoutout to copilots @DBurkland@AaronS5_ for joining along. Videos coming soon. @Tesla_AI
@gbhall My wife uses it a lot, specially when parking inside apartment blocks when visiting my daughter, where space it tight.
Parking manually by herself would take 5 to 6 attempts. With self-parking , takes about 2 or max 3 attempts.
@CARN0N Used that often when driving on the M1 when it's foggy, specially near or at the Mooney Mooney bridge / Hawkesburry River in the early morning.
Following future rollout of FSD V14 Lite for HW3 vehicles in the US, we plan on expanding V14 Lite to additional international markets.
This update ensures that HW3 vehicle owners will continue to benefit from ongoing software updates.
Since international rollout is subject to several factors (completion of technical verification, regional adaptation & relevant regulatory approvals), we can't provide definitive dates at the moment, but will provide updates on a rolling basis
Model Y vehicles now make up the emergency response fleet for MelSafe in the City of Melville, Western Australia.
The city reports around $50,000 USD in annual savings from fuel and maintenance, while also reducing emissions. The vehicles are deployed 24/7 on 12-hour rotations.
"It's been a big winner with our community. They think they are fantastic."
@gbhall@ryanjaycowan I use Supervised FSD in Sydney and Central Coast, but I still keep fingers on the steering wheel, specially at intersections with cameras. Also, on first day of using FSD, somebody literally road raged at me, I think because they saw me not holding the steering wheel.
De toekomst van mobiliteit is aangebroken
FSD Supervised has been approved in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 & will begin rolling out in the country shortly!
Trained on billions of kilometers of real-world driving data, it can drive you almost anywhere under your supervision – from residential roads to city streets & highways
No other vehicle can do this.
We're excited to bring FSD Supervised to more European countries soon
@CoffeeNGrit@unbalancedcpa I asked my wife as well that question: "Who do you prefer driving ? Me or JARVIS ( the name we gave to our Model Y ) 'with FSD' ?"
She said: JARVIS
