Authentic Advent Day 19🌲
To the story curators...
As most schools close their doors for Christmas today we bring our Authentic Advent to close.
We are so grateful to all the beautiful people who work in schools relentlessly every day.
At Finding My Voice we are passionate about expecting more from our young people. An ambitious, engaging curriculum that shapes the whole child.
All young people Finding their Voice.
❤️
🌲 Authentic Advent Day 18
🧵What is the purpose?
Our accountability systems, curriculum and assessments drive a frantic race to get to the ultimate goal.
Our children need to develop their Authentic Voice. Proud of who they are, bold in their vulnerability and able to think aloud and as a whole.
At Finding My Voice we have spent years developing our Authentic Oracy model. An Authentic Voice for an artificial world...✨
Authentic Advent Day 17 🌲
🧵Authentic Voice
Our young people are in a world where how they *should* look, feel and behave is heavily narrated by an inauthentic narrative.
If we develop Oracy which is highly codified, controlled and contained, then we just add another performative layer to our young people's lives.
Scaffolded yes, controlled and contained...no.
When we start with in place of truth everything flows.
We call this the Fingerprint Culture. A culture that reflects individuals rather than institution.
A culture that thrives.
❤️✨
At Finding My Voice we support colleagues to enact deep listening. Understanding the beauty and challenges of their young people, community and of the wider world.
When a child learns to communicate formally they are developing an essential life skill.
Not only is this powerful for their professional life, but they also have the skills and confidence to advocate for themselves and others in an ever changing world...
Authentic Advent Day 15🎄
🧵
'When you challenge yourself your comfort zone expands' FMV pupil.
Presenting either as myself or someone else is a confidence super-charge.
When a child performs on stage they experience a powerful displacement. They become aware they can be anyone...
But such moments are not only reserved for a stage.
They can happen at any moment in the school day when a child stands up in front of their peers to share.
At Finding My Voice we support schools to shape young people's intrinsic motivation.
Ensuring young people...
✨ Understand and experience their individual beauty
✨Grow in competence to be more them
✨ Are enabled to make choices and think on their own...
🙏🏼✨
Authentic Advent Day 14🎄
🧵Extrinsic versus intrinsic motivation...
Our education system is geared towards reward by extrinsic measures.
Value measured by what we achieve rather than who we are.
Authentic Advent Day 13🎄
From one of our pupils...
'Finding your voice makes you feel more you. You feel relieved.'
How much of our young people do we invite in?
More presence means more them.
Helping our young people to grow self awareness, to interact with their learning, to think with others and ask questions is power for the modern world.
Giving the gift Finding My Voice.

🎄Authentic Advent Day 12
🧵What is an education if we don't shape our young people as humans too?
Strong outcomes without powerful personal development is useless.
