My genuine advice as a full-time artist to people who want to pursue art as a career;
Ask yourself these questions;
- Why do I want this career?
- What are my expectations?
- What kind of art career do I want?
After answering them, if you still want to pursue art, here's my advice;
First of all, If you want art career for money, it is not very easy to earn a living unless you're above a certain skill level. Until you get there, you need to study art A LOT. And study intentionally, not just "i sketch something random everyday". Make sure you're financially good until you get there. Then you can create a good portfolio and apply to games, studios etc. Beware that payment might not be as much as you think at the start.
Let's say you want to pursue art because you want more people to see what you do and money is a nice bonus.
In order to grow art account, you need to make things people care about, or make people care about what you do. The faster and relatively "easier" path would be doing a lot of fanart of popular series/people, engaging with fandoms etc. Following trends like strip games or sfw options like portfolio day, maid day etc.
The second path however is making your original work and making people care about that. It is much harder, but once you build that, your community will be more close-knit and engaged in your content.
Try to create unique ways of posting. Drawing for social media is very different than drawing for games or other professional work. Study what goes viral, think about why it went viral.
Keep your media tab clean, don't use gifs or images to react. Or if you must, delete them after a while. It is a huge turn off when someone sees your art, clicks on your profile and sees a bunch of memes instead of your art. Many people skip on accounts like that.
Find a good balance of what you like and what people like. If you only make art for social media, you will burn out really fast. For me, I like drawing men. For people, they like seeing men of their favorite shows/games. So I make fanarts of men.
Last one is just pure luck. Algorithm sucks and it changes for the worse everyday. I wish you all best of luck!
Happy to announce I did the Audio for HoloJam trailer #7!!
Even more exciting, this time around I got to work with voicelines from a few of the talents.
Thank you Kronii, Kaela, and Shiori for your great performances, working with your voices was super cool.
