They're doing a classic flame safety test in that deep concrete shaft (likely a well, tank, or confined space during construction).
A burning object (cardboard/wood here) is lowered to check air quality before anyone enters:
- Flame goes out = low oxygen or asphyxiant gases (unsafe).
- Flame flares bigger/brighter = flammable gas like methane (explosion risk).
- Steady burn = normal/safe air.
The fire keeps glowing at the bottom, so it passed. Old-school method still used where gas detectors aren't around.
The fight to save the 8th Wonder of the World; Maasai Mara ecosystem against hotels like @RitzCarlton@Marriott and Many others which are established in Wildlife corridors which is interfering with their existence is still on. The Demand is simple, Demolish the hotels & camps.
Kenyans are calling out the Marriott Group of Hotels for constructing a hotel in the middle of the Maasai Mara–Serengeti ecosystem, saying it is disrupting the wildebeest migration , a major tourist attraction for both Kenya and Tanzania!
Hotels built on migratory routes, Elephant breeding areas, rhino breeding areas, leopard breeding areas & along Mara River , Sand River & riparian land In Maasai Mara like @RitzCarlton and others Must Be Demolished urgently by April 2026.
This is a terrible sight to behold. Why allow people to build at the very site of crossing? Wildlife - the great migration is what sustains the Reserve. This issue has come in the media before but apparently nothing was ever done about it. REALLY why this?
