White candidate (Billy Webster) losing every county to a black candidate (Jermaine Johnson) except for Orangeburg, the most black county
This state makes zero sense man
I think we became the Florida Football of College Baseball.
Incredible facilities and a constant expectation to reach the deep postseason. Got spoiled and called to fire every coach afterwards who did not meet our expectations quickly.
Now we are an undesired dumpster fire.
Lou Holtz was by far one of the greatest and most well respected coaches in college football history. Born in 1937 in West Virginia, Holtz coached at several universities, notably winning a national championship while head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Holtzโs revival of the South Carolina football program became one of the most remarkable achievements of his coaching career. Holtz arrived at South Carolina during one of the lowest points of its program in 1999; a team that had just finished 1-10 in 1998. After finishing 0-11 during his first season, Holtz quickly turned the program around in 2000 finishing 8-4, including notable wins against #10 Georgia, #25 Mississippi State, and #18 Ohio State during the Outback Bowl. The South Carolina fanbase was so desperate for a win fans stormed the field after beating New Mexico State for the first game of the 2000 season. Most remarkably, this was done before the modern day transfer portal.
Holtz also finished 9-3 in 2001 with notable wins against #25 Georgia, #17 Mississippi State, Clemson, and another Outback Bowl victory against 22 Ohio State. Holtz finally retired from coaching football in 2004 with head coach Steve Spurrier following in his footsteps. Holtzโs leadership reignited the South Carolina football program and helped lay the foundation for the program today.
Aside from football, Holtz was widely known as a man of deep faith, strong character, and overall great leader for the people around him. Rest in Peace Coach.
