For the record, I asked Florida House Speaker @Daniel_PerezFL about @GovRonDeSantis and @AGJamesUthmeier complaining on X he had not started impeachment proceedings against state judges, including one in Tallahassee.
He had one short response: "I'm not a big social media guy, but I'll take your word at face value. If that's something that they're calling for, future legislatures can make that decision." (Photo by @alicia_c_devine)
Collins crew with dystopian look ahead if @ByronDonalds wins GOP primary (think data centers, A.I., pot) complete with an (A.I. generated?) image of Collins battling Donalds to sounds of "Paranoid"... (will note front of old Capitol not accurate but that's a minor detail)
It's Day 2 of the special session on property taxes with a final vote expcted later today. Senate President Ben Albritton - who has not spoken to the media since March - is not expected to talk to reporters. The Senate & House yesterday altered @GovRonDeSantis prop tax proposal
.@SenTomWright is singing a different tune today.
He now says that "I think we need to give the voters the opportunity to vote on" the property tax proposal that the Legislature is considering today to put on the Nov. ballot.
Sen. Corey Simon, who represents 12 fiscally constrained counties, said this is the hardest vote so far in his tenure in the Senate.
He said he's going to vote yes on the property tax proposal.
While property taxes are collected locally the Fla Leg uses those collections as an integral part of the state's school funding formula. The Legislature annually requires districts to collect a certain dollar amount from property taxes in order to receive state matching funds

Missed this from earlier: The Florida House today removed the $5.5 million that @GovRonDeSantis asked for to promote the property tax amendment to homeowners
Just to note ... Perez time as speaker is scheduled to end in November and he is leaving the Legislature ... Republicans have already nominated Rep. Sam Garrison to be the next speaker
There it is.
The Florida House Speaker traded a gerrymandered congressional map in the middle of the decade for an Ambassadorship.
The culture of corruption is happening in plain sight.
Remember in November.
