There were strong performances in abundance for the @JSerraTF teams on the first day of the Griffin Relays & Distance Carnival Friday at Los Alamitos High.

Lions senior Georgia Jeanneret highlighted the team’s performances on a chilly afternoon, with a stellar win in the open 1600m, clocking a winning time of 4:53.98 (currently the No. 2 time in the state pending the conclusion of this weekend’s slate of meets).

Freshman Reese Holley also had a strong performance in the 1600m, as she stayed within a second of Jeanneret through the first three laps, before finishing second in a time of 4:56.71.

(Holley’s time is a current state leader amongst freshmen.)

Both Jeanneret and Holley were the only runners in the four-lap race to clock a sub-5:20 time.

Junior Anne Elise Packard led a pack of Lions that finished in the top six in the open 800m, as she crossed the finish line victorious in a time of 2:12.44.

Sophomore Kaylah Tasser (2:16.62), freshmen Hutton Nelligan (2:19.32) and Hayden Kroger (2:21.60), along with junior Amerie Johnson (2:25.72) finished third through sixth in the race respectively.

Lions senior Sophia Chiaverini and sophomore Helena Reuter each cleared a meet-best 11 feet in the pole vault, with Chiaverini taking first place on total attempts.

On the boys’ side, junior Bradley Arrey on the open 800m run in a time of 1:58.18.

Sophomore Luke Friedl (2:01.13) and freshman Zac O’Leary (2:07.88) finished second and fourth respectively.
