@mattmcgee The only piece that in 2016 hadn't been tested out in the courts is whether abstractive summarization counted entirely as derivative work or simply a mechanical transformation of the original. I'm pretty sure it should count if done correctly.
@mattmcgee If you break rules (a) or (b) you are lazy (or your algorithms are poorly written). If you break rules (c) or (d) you were probably trying to be greedy and should have lawyered up before you even started.
