@wesstreeting Today this bank holiday doctors are working at £18 / hour… they will be the lowest paid in the hospital as they don’t get bank holiday pay. Newly qualified Nurse practitioners and Physician associates are earning more than double £36-45
@Jztujj@ItsnotrightUK@wesstreeting@DHSCgovuk This is whilst the PAs/ACPs get paid £36-45 today, some newly qualified. This is more than the most senior registrars (that are almost consultants) with 10-20 years training.
@Jztujj@ItsnotrightUK@wesstreeting@DHSCgovuk Tell that to the FY1s now working bank holiday on £18/hr (don’t get paid extra for bank holidays) covering multiple wards by themselves with minimal supervision (as the reg is dealing with emergencies).
@DrEilidhMaria If they don’t increase training places, then more med students is about medical school profits and not about increasing doctors/supporting the NHS.
@fightwatch420@Justanothe25574@Heccles94 Plenty of reasons…then gives only two tenuous reasons. Assume if you’re angry about Mandelson, you think Trump should resign too?
@KequeMage And that man pictured, Keir Starmer, changed the CPS so victims were heard, cases were reopened and the sick ***** were prosecuted. Starmer brought about the first prosecutions of Asian grooming gangs.
@RStopman@travelingflying Everywhere I’ve worked uses language line. Telephone interpreting via Language Line for the NHS typically costs between £0.30 and £0.50 per minute
@bananatransit@BBCNewsnight@vicderbyshire Mix of university costs increasing, whether you’re post grad and yes he probably did not get maximum maintenance. Mine is £150,000 as a single parent, who switched after starting another degree.
@fieldo85@pmosligo@BBCNewsnight@vicderbyshire It is not student numbers that are limited. It is jobs and training posts after university, many doctors now face unemployment after university. The number of jobs and training posts is limited by government, not doctors - who are begging for more jobs.
@Shilisad1@Janeajnet@Dr_Done_ I think XR reports are often more of a safety net, rather than a clinical decision making tool. Just like pharmacists check prescriptions.
@Shilisad1@Janeajnet@Dr_Done_ Found some trusts don’t routinely report XRs unless requested. Often other trusts take days, pts often been treated and even left hospital by then. Doctors do miss things though, so report is helpful.
@Shilisad1@Janeajnet@Dr_Done_ Doctors do get trained in radiology interpretation. Literally have lectures, workshops and exam questions (with radiograph images) in radiology.
@wesstreeting Maybe invest in some proven tech… more MRIs and CT scanners, UK has some of the lowest per capita in Europe and long waits for routine scans.
@sucha_rascal@wesstreeting Learn how - Everyone has to start somewhere though, and gain experience. Can’t walk out of med school as fully fledged consultants. And nor can you expect doctors to not seek expertise from seniors.
