Sending my memoir-biography Islands in the Fields into the world this week.
About Irish women writers. About motherhood. About surviving silence.
We begin again. #amquerying#memoir#irishliterature
I definitely have reverse seasonal depression. Don't talk to me during the heat of the summer, but the second there is a chill in the air, it starts to get dark early, and I'm wearing sweaters and eating soup, I come ALIVE and suddenly life is worth living again.
@rewritingrosie I had to do it for a few years as was working full time and had a baby. It meant no TV and bed by 8.30 but always felt so happy to have given that time to myself and my writing before greeting the world and its expectations.
GRANNY NATIONAL, my first children’s book, is out on 8th May!
You can pre-order now from:

Proud of my dad John @SherlockGates sharing his 💔about storm damage @RTECountryWide @boucherhayes. Hope @MHealyRae will help forest owners, but sounds like there isn’t much will to overcome red tape re felling licenses🌳 https://t.co/2ePwLydwnp #forestry#nefg
Frankfurt is a weird time for writers; it can feel like everyone is getting 6 figure deals (they’re not!). To do something for those who aren’t yet at that stage, I’m offering a free critique of your first 10k words & synopsis (fiction only) - to enter RT by midnight Sat! 📚✍️
We're looking forward to our next #KildareReads event in the series. Join us for an engaging evening with @fionasherlock and @AmandaCasssidy in association with @IrishWritersCtr Reserve your seat today for an unforgettable evening of storytelling, discussion, and inspiration.
As counting is underway in the #LE24 election, we congratulate the many women who ran in this year’s election. It is crucial for our democracy that women in their diversity have their voices heard at local level. #Elections2024
