I'm sick to death of seeing boarded-up homes and derelict properties. Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have spent years promising to sort it out. But what they announced today is a joke: a rehash of their do-nothing proposals, more empty promises for sometime in the future, letting the owners of rotting properties off the hook with further delays to collecting the tens of millions owed in derelict property fines.

This government needs do its job. Work to end the scourge of dereliction, make the owners of derelict properties pay what they owe, take real action to bring thousands of boarded-up homes back into use.

Diesel up by further 7c overnight! Home heating oil getting close to €1000 for a half fill. Four weeks into this crisis and still nothing from Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. Now, they swan off for another weekend without taking any action to help.

We need to see a cut to taxes on petrol, diesel and home heating oil. Half measures won’t work. Working people cannot be left behind again. They want proper relief from skyrocketing fuel prices.

Government must act to reduce taxes on fuel.

They cannot keep ignoring the warnings from Irish hauliers and the growing pressure soaring fuel prices are putting on workers, families and small businesses.

As many fill up their car this morning on the way to work or the school run - and as households see their heating oil tanks running low - people are counting every extra euro.

Money people need for groceries, electricity and other essentials. These increases can’t simply be absorbed.

Government must stop this ‘wait and see’ approach and intervene now: scrap the planned carbon tax increase, reduce taxes on petrol, diesel and home heating oil during this crisis, and bring forward a cost of living package with real support for workers and families.

People face rip-off electricity bills despite the latest CSO report confirming wholesale prices have fallen over the last 12 months.

Why? Because under Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, big energy companies are allowed to gouge ordinary working families to line their own pockets.

Over 300,000 households are now behind on their bills. This isn’t normal. It’s a political choice that protects those at the top while life gets harder for everyone else.

The government must act now to introduce real cost of living supports, hold energy companies to account and get costs down to make life more affordable.

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have done nothing to stop the rip-off! 70,0000 more households are behind on their electricity bills! A massive increase in a year. 303,465 households are now behind overall. The government knew this was coming as energy companies hiked their electricity prices. Yet they still pulled energy credits from struggling households. A terrible decision.

What an utterly useless government! They need to cop on fast and do their job - tackle the price gouging energy companies, urgently implement proposals to get energy costs down, and finally take action to end this rip-off. People can’t take any more!
