Been thinking about that video James Rolfe did complaining about sequel titles, only to praise the Rocky movies for keeping it simple (Rocky I-V, until Rocky Balboa). You could apply that to Toy Story too.
An underrated gem that brilliantly deconstructs various action movie tropes of the time (and now!), beautifully animated and shot with IMAX aspect ratio changes and all. Fun, lovable characters, terrific set pieces, great score, it’ll have its day. One day. 🪐🚀🧑🚀
New "Mr. Coat" episode, on how Charles Schulz's "Peanuts" character Lucy Van Pelt evolved from an innocent toddler to Charlie Brown's biggest tormentor, constantly pulling the football away: https://t.co/gvyPcWIN0R
Toy Story 5 spoilers:
The second Jessie was brought back to Emily‘s house, I assumed this is where it was going. I was very happy with the way they evoked Emily without having her actually show up instead. This would’ve been the much more predictable route.
i’m selling my collection to help cover medical expenses as i navigate multiple chronic illnesses that have significantly impacted my ability to work over the past three years ❤️🩹
100+ items are available, free shipping is on, and offers are welcome. if you'd like to give something a new home while supporting me during a difficult time, i’d be incredibly grateful!
Don’t you love how animation Twitter claims to appreciate all art, but the second Disney releases a trailer or film people have to make comparisons to DreamWorks and prove they’re better? 😑
I don’t know, can’t I be excited for both? Why compare? They both look good ❤️
A reminder Morbius was shot before both Venom 2 and No Way Home, with Sony seemingly trying to coyly insinuate their movies could exist in the same universe as the MCU. They had to completely change how Keaton showed up because of the decision to instead clearly split them.
So many people will always reply with "What was the point of this?" about the randomness of the moment with Hulk's son when that was the whole joke and was set up earlier in She-Hulk's finale, commenting on MCU stories doing so many "Here's something big for the future" teases.
Because I think about these things:
Toy Story: 1995 logo (pre-2009)
Toy Story 2: 1995 logo (pre-2009)
Toy Story 3: 2006 logo
Toy Story 4: 2006 logo (2011 version)
Lightyear: 2006 logo (2011 version)
Toy Story 5: 2022 logo (2024 version)
The references man. Like I don’t want to be the pointing at the screen meme but dude I was smiling when THAT cameo at the gym happened and the thing he says at the end. Also that one weirdo gremlin guy from the 87 movie being here took me by surprise.
It’s especially so nice to see a movie made by people who get MOTU. It’s goofy at its core but there is enough genuine emotion to it that makes it work. The jokes land so well and the action scenes are amazing. And dammit Jared Leto actually killed it as Skeletor.
