I’m expecting this to be my last Tweet, at least for a while. If you’ve followed me here, find me on LinkedIn or Facebook instead. Using Twitter lately feels like an endorsement of Musk, and I’d rather not.
Before everyone leaves this platform…I’m excited that my trip is finally “confirmed” and I’ll be joining #ICFFR in person in just 10 days! Hope to see you there.

@samlfox25 That’s pathetic…but if you can manage, think of the bright side: the committee saved you the trouble of finding out that their department would be a frustrating place to find yourself. Keep looking and you’ll find the right gig!

@TribbleTweets Check out the TREE grants from the Association for Fire Ecology! That’s one great and underutilized source of support for undergrads and grads to attend conferences, get training, etc.
I've been capturing video from this webcam in Fort Myers all day and I've put it into a Timelapse. Check out the storm surge rushing in! Crazy. #Ian#flwx
ICYMI, while the last 20 years have seen increasing wildland 🔥fire activity, this year has been a little different for the PNW.
This year we’ve seen 61 fires totaling 469,388 acres. This is nearly a 70 percent drop from 2021 where we saw 84 fires comprising 1,503,027 acres.
As of Saturday morning here's the location of the 14 active large 🔥 fires and complexes in the Pacific Northwest -- 5 in Oregon and 9 in Washington!

Wildland Firefighters regularly take exposure risks to protect our lives and property. Addressing one occupational risk for them would help to show our thanks.
Hello #dendro folks. I have a funded research position for an interested PhD student. Position is not tied to any of our funded work so student research focus could be most anything tree-ring related.
Thanks!

I’ve had a long-running desire to learn better negotiation skills and spread them among my network. These points are great advice, and several have helped me.
Not really a science post, this video shows some of the critical work aircrews do when fire suppression is needed. And, everyone likes to watch airplanes.
The most important thing you should know about fire science today is that this country should do more to prevent gun massacres of children, people of color, and everyone else.
