We celebrate the women who came before us to blaze a path towards equality & the women who continue this legacy & progress today. Happy #WomensEqualityDay to all the strong, dedicated, & resilient women. Women fill crucial roles in wildland fire, & we are better because of them!
As of July 30, 2024, wildfires have scorched a staggering 751,327 acres across our state. This year's wildfire activity is 2,816% higher than last year, 29 times the amount of acreage burned. The numbers are a stark reminder: 95% of wildfires are caused by humans. Stay vigilant—follow fire safety guidelines, maintain defensible space, and report suspicious activities. Let's prevent fires from accidental sparks like dragging trailer chains or improper campfires. One less spark means one less wildfire. #FireSafety #PreventWildfires
#NationalFireNews: Currently, 73 large active fires are being managed nationwide, and have burned 499,192 acres. Of these, 25 wildfires are being managed under full suppression strategies. #FireYear2024

Seeing #smoke in Flagstaff? This morning’s smoke in the area is coming from the Deer Springs and the Silver King fires in southern Utah, causing air quality to dip into the "Moderate" to "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" categories.
As this smoke passes through and lingers, please be sure to make the necessary precautions if you are sensitive to smoke. Stay indoors if you can, turn on an air purifier if you have one, and be safe!
#DYK the @CityofFlagstaff has a HEPA Filter Program that provides FREE air purifiers to Flagstaff community members in response to #wildfire? 🔥

All three districts on the Coconino National Forest are now "Very High" Fire Danger. When the fire danger is "Very High," fires will start easily from most causes. The fires will spread rapidly and have a quick increase in intensity, right after ignition. Small fires can quickly become large fires and exhibit extreme fire intensity, such as long-distance spotting and fire whirls. These fires can be difficult to control and will often become much larger and longer-lasting fires.
Goats are really setting the baah high when it comes to fighting wildfires! They're not "kidding" around when it comes to fuel reduction. These goats are really earning their "horns" as natural firefighters. And let's not forget their "bleat"-iful contribution to the environment.
Final Update on Bravo Fire:
Transitioning fire control had begun as containment reached 82%.
The IMT transferred command of the fire to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire
Management (DFFM) as a Type 4 complexity incident. DFFM takes over management of the
fire on behalf of DEMA.
Update: Bravo Fire, 7:30am
Acreage remains the same. No changes in aircraft and crews assigned. Aerial operations shifting to recon, no bucket drops. Crews continuing to hold and secure the line. #BravoFire@CoconinoCounty@CoconinoNF@coconinoem@CoconinoSheriff
