Zohran Mamdani: “City Hall will not back down in the face of federal attacks against trans New Yorkers. The threats will continue and so will our relentless protection of trans people across this city. As a first step, my administration has made a $15M investment in gender affirming care over the next two years and we will continue to use every tool at our disposal to ensure that trans and gender non-conforming New Yorkers can live with dignity, safety, and freedom they deserve”
why are people only giving a fuck about disabled people at concerts as part of their argument about a phone free show? why are you only talking about disabled people when you’re trying to think of ways it could benefit YOU?
Notice how New York City is enjoying one of its most peaceful periods of time on record the last 6 months under a democratic socialist mayor that didn’t run on any kind of ‘tough on crime/expand police force’ rhetoric
There’s a correlation there but I don’t know what it is.

It would take far more than a month to honor the contributions of queer and transgender New Yorkers.
From the Cercle Hermaphroditos in 1895, the first trans advocacy group in the United States, to the drag balls of the Harlem Renaissance, to the Stonewall uprising, to the Lesbian Herstory Archives, to ACT UP!, founded in 1987 as queer people fought for their lives while the Reagan administration looked away, New York City's history has long been shaped by queer and trans New Yorkers.
To all our queer and trans neighbors: you deserve a City where you can afford to live safely, openly, and joyfully.
Happy Pride, New York City.
