A really interesting thing about FWWM is how if you add the Missing Pieces it regains that Twin Peaks tone that the movie lacks (specifically as it relates to comedy), and how studiously Lynch removed them to make the harrowing film it became.

@TheOtaking Reinhard is not out to change the system of royalty or class. He's a competing conqueror that sits on the very same throne that Goldenbaums were. "Interventionism"=/= socialism. At best the show is a fascist fantasy down to the soft spot for royals and the helden Wagnerian arc.

@TheOtaking FPA is criticized from the right by the show itself by the way it is depicted as constant mob rule and by having no people in its political class of any worth, only dutiful military men. Yang mostly just laments that this is the state of things, but still believes in its ideals.
