@BelyiTroll@technosham
@Mar_Musa@SaddamTransfem I don't think you can excuse some things by claiming popular support even if they were popular. Moscow trials were popular. Does it make them less disgusting? I admit, there was probably wide support for taking church property. But for killing priests and destroying churches? No
@Mar_Musa@SaddamTransfem What conspiracy theories? That the priests were hounded into camps along with kulaks and oppositionists and then destroyed? You think it's a hoax or smth?
@Mar_Musa@SaddamTransfem Well it's how Bolsheviks tried to frame it."We only destroy what's already dead and rotten."But it was not what really happened. The back of the church was broken by the state with supreme violence. The sheer amount of effort it took can be taken as proof of the church's vitality
@SaddamTransfem The point is, in your original post you portray church burning as a grassroots movement, as some sort of cultural black repartition. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was a concerted state effort, very unpopular locally. More like cult. collectivization than repartition
