Filming into the early hours to witness the iconic glass eel migration was a dream experience. Seeing them beneath ultra-violet light was extraordinary. We return in 2027 to capture much more. Yet barriers claim many lives. More must be done. Driven by instinct. Dying in silence
This morning, 99% of delegates polled at Labour Conference said that Thames Water should be brought into public ownership.
It's SO obvious what the public want.
Now it's time for Andy Burnham to do it. #labour26 https://t.co/nKCkiaL83I
@andyburnham “Hope comes from honesty.” We agree, Prime Minister.
Our open letter to you calls for a Gov emergency briefing to the nation on the climate & nature crisis. Will you take this forward?
Trust the public with the facts.

Let water companies go bust.
Ofwat approved 36% bill increases for 2025-2030, companies want more.
Prices doubled - in real terms - since privatisation.
We got sewage in rivers, water outages, hosepipe bans.
Need public ownership.

“People want public ownership, not just public control — which really just means more regulation when it comes to water and energy. No dodging of the issue, no compromise. Ownership is key." - @CatHobbs
Read our report on how Andy Burnham can deliver public ownership: https://t.co/fdDPaDnlgm
LET THEM GO BUST
Tell Ofwat that water companies shouldn’t get any more of our money.
No more bill hikes. Let them go bust and bring them into public ownership.
✍️ Take 2 mins to complete the consultation
Deadline⏱️: midnight on Thursday 24th September https://t.co/HqriaQby65
Privatisation of water under Thatcher created a cash cow of our assets for overseas investors. Sir John Hayes is right - it's a shocking indictment of privatisation.
MPs from both sides of the house want change. 82% of people want public ownership of water. @andyburnham please do the right thing.
"I just want ministers to get on and bring our water into public ownership now".
Secretary of State Angela Eagle already has the power, AND 568,674 REASONS, to put water companies into Special Administration. So what is she waiting for??
"Public ownership of water industry could save £22billion, MPs are told."
Oh look, you were lied to, nationalising the water industry isn't going to cost you billions, it could in fact save you £22 billion.
Who'd have guessed it.

United Utilities fined £964,225, pleads guilty to dumping raw sewage in seas. Crimes date back to 2023.
Fined at least 223 times since 2010, paid £8m. Still committing crimes, bosses rewarded, shareholders enriched.
Revoke its licence. Nationalise water.

"Just to make clear how dramatic these [E. coli] readings were, the level considered unsafe for bathing is 1,000 colony-forming units per 100ml. The group’s highest reading showed 370,000."
Christchurch Harbour everyone, Christchurch Harbour.

"‘Tiny bit of rain and the sewage comes’."
If I remember correctly when they tested the DNA of the E. coli at Brighton Pier it turned out to be human. Yes human sewage in the water next to Brighton Pier.

One of the world’s largest AI data centres is being planned next to Auchtertool village in Fife, Scotland. The height of six double decker buses and length of 100 football pitches. An estimated 20% of Scotland’s energy will be consumed by this.
Residents in Auchtertool (a village of roughly 200 homes) and surrounding communities are understandably concerned about noise pollution, natural resource consumption, visual dominance, loss of countryside and loss of rural character as a consequence of the data centre. Over 1,600 official objections have been lodged with Fife Council.
This is not a sustainable or environmentally friendly. This large-scale energy consumption contradicts the Scottish government’s goals for environmental sustainability.
Instead of pushing forward with this project that no one voted for, the Scottish Government should listen to local communities around Auchtertool to halt these plans immediately.
The video shows the beautiful countryside that is earmarked for the data centre.
Dry weather sewage discharges by England water companies soar.
7,280 suspected illegal dumpings in rivers and sea in first five months of 2026.
8,576 cases in 2025.
Criminality up, bills up.
No exec fined/prosecuted.
Company licenses not revoked.

This is a huge human health issue, as well as an environmental crime.
The privatised water companies have failed us. Time for *renationalisation*.
(Not 'public control' as Burnham suggests.) https://t.co/ZGM32RDG2m
It rained....
And as predicted on @LBC with @HenryRiley1 not 48 hours ago.
Anything in brown is sewage being dumping into the environment right now, in real time, anything in red is sewage dumped over the last 24 hours.
I have seen it, and agree about the voice, not quite right, I think they have merged me with someone who does me for comedy sketches, but very amusing all the same.
