Yesterday, on the floor of the Senate, I supported the Bill for an Act to Repeal the Ministry of Finance Incorporated Act and Re-enact the Ministry of Finance Incorporated Act 2025 as it passed Second Reading.
This Bill is aimed at strengthening transparency, deepening corporate governance and ensuring more efficient management of the Federal Government’s assets for sustainable national development.
My commitment remains firm to support legislation that promotes accountability, fosters economic growth and advances policies that align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for a more prosperous Nigeria.

Today, I visited the Ikorodu-Itoikin Road to assess the progress of the ongoing reconstruction project. This road is very important as it links Ikorodu with Epe, Ijebu Ode, Ibeju-Lekki, and many nearby communities, serving as a major socio-economic corridor for our people.
Accompanied by my Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr. (Otunba) Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, we inspected the site and engaged with the contractor, Messrs Geld Construction Engineers, to ensure quality delivery and timely completion of the project.
Also, I visited the Imota Mini Stadium, which is currently under construction, contractors assured to complete the project in record time, in line with my commitment on timely completion of projects.
I remain fully committed to making sure all development projects in Lagos East are delivered and truly benefit the people.

I want to sincerely thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, @officialABAT for graciously assenting to the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Bill, 2025, now signed into law as the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA), 2025.
As the lead sponsor of this landmark legislation and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, I am proud to be part of this bold step towards transforming Nigeria’s financial services sector.
The Act repeals and consolidates outdated laws into a unified framework, raises capital requirements to strengthen insurers, and introduces strict timelines for claims processing, restoring trust and accountability in the system. It also provides for dedicated protection funds for policyholders, digitizes insurance operations for greater transparency and accessibility, and empowers the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) with stronger supervisory powers. Additionally, the law strengthens the enforcement of compulsory insurance and expands Nigeria’s participation in regional schemes like the ECOWAS Brown Card.
The NIIRA is more than reform, it’s a strategic move aligned with the Federal Government’s vision of a $1 trillion economy, delivering renewed hope to Nigerians by promoting investment, job creation, and financial inclusion.
I commend my colleagues in both chambers of the National Assembly, the leadership of NAICOM, and every stakeholder who contributed to the success of this journey. As we now move into the implementation phase, I am confident that we will witness significant progress in deepening insurance penetration and strengthening public trust.
Together, we are laying the foundation for a safer, more resilient, and prosperous Nigeria.
