Quarterback Roger Staubach, Coach Tom Landry, and Quarterback Craig Morton at the Dallas Cowboys training camp in Sherman Oaks, California, 1971. At the beginning of the year there was a huge quarterback controversy, such that Landry alternated quarterbacks not only starting alternate games or even series within the game but actually alternating between PLAYS. They were 4-3 before Landry settled on Staubach and then they won seven in a row, finishing the regular season 11-3, and ended up winning the Super Bowl. By the way, this was that year that Texas Stadium opened. Some of y'all will remember running back Duane Thomas, who scored the first TD in the new stadium.
I always wondered why the Cowboys had their training camp OTHER than in Texas, but that's a story for another day.
