@mjpostdaily Global Beatles Day is celebrated on June 25 to commemorate the date in 1967 when The Beatles performed "All You Need Is Love" on Our World, the first-ever live global satellite television broadcast. Reaching an estimated 400 million people across 26 countries. That's why.

@alexandranaught@beatlestoday Yes, and they were responsible for helping me look at band history with a wider lens. It's far more interesting and complicated than it's been portrayed in 95% of Beatles books.
@alexandranaught@beatlestoday Seriously! Every Beatles book I have ever read only cares about what John did at the party and why, never about how any of this affected Paul? As if the tensions caused by Brian's favoritism to John didn't undermine the J&P's partnership or affect Paul at all.
@piperocktheory@emalynski Only in terms of negotiating contracts & such. Paul never proposed that Lee Eastman play the same role as Brian Epstein. It was a limited role. And Paul was right, as evidenced by the fact that Lee E made Paul a very rich man. And would have done the same for the other 3 Beatles.
@piperocktheory@emalynski Wrong. Paul suggested his father-in-law (a well respected lawyer for artists) manage the band's legal affairs. Not be their manager. The other 3 said no. Paul dropped it. It was John's decision to unilaterally sign with Klein, breaking the unanimous vote policy on band decisions.
@saaaantaf3@yogurtncereal Paul didn't "literally" start it. John granted dozens and dozens of interviews taking shots at Paul while Paul kept silent. So he finally writes a song with a few mild criticisms of John (you're preachy and you broke up the band -- both true) and Paul is the bad guy?
@sapphyreblayze@yogurtncereal That line has zero to do with John's weight. Sheesh. Some of you sound just like John Lennon: "That line was about ME, wasn't it? WASN'T IT?" lol.
@Jace_The_5921@yogurtncereal It's called empathy. Paul is comparing people who complain about their rich life/privilege while so many other people are losing weight because they don't have any food.
@AidanRosenberg4@yogurtncereal The second verse of Too Many People is about social issues: What else do you think "too many people "never sleeping late" (working a daily grind), "paying parking fines" (unlike the privileged with chauffeurs), "losing weight (not having enough food)? It's empathy for others.
@sgtfools So you're saying that the line "even when you fall in love dear boy" is Paul saying that John has never been in love with anyone and isn't in love with Yoko?? In no way does Dear Boy make sense as a song about John Lennon.
@revosten@ltsreallove Just my two cents: But Wah-Wah is not an interesting song musically or vocally. It's only interest resides in what it means about George in that moment of Beatles history. Which is fine but it's just not a great song on its own.
