kan katanya rakyat diminta percaya sama pemerintah. nah, ini beberapa permintaan rakyat. kalo bisa diwujudkan, harusnya mah kepercayaan dari rakyat mudah didapat.
The Chief of the Indonesian National Police has instructed officers to shoot (with rubber bullets) anyone who enters their dormitories. The police are seen cheering at the notice.
2. Appeal to Emotion (Argumentum ad Passiones)
jangan yagesyaa~

TOLONG BANTU RT PASUKANKU
BANJIR BANDANG TERNATE
Pasukanku, dibalik ramainya peristiwa politik. Aku mengajak kita semua untuk #prayforternate
Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB) mencatat sebanyak 13 orang meninggal dunia dan 10 unit rumah rusak berat akibat diterjang banjir bandang pada Minggu (25/8) pukul 03.30 WIT, dan tim gabungan terus melakukan upaya pencarian korban lainnya yang diperkirakan masih tertimbun lumpur.
I'm gonna use my Twitter Blue subscription to the fullest for you because holy shit so many arguments are wrong and does not reflect the reality of Indonesian politics on the ground, where labour organizers and students are protesting and as of today, hundreds are still missing after being kidnapped by the police.
1. "Widodo is pro-Palestine and pro-China"
False. Widodo stance on geopolitics are pragmatic and indecisive, under his tenure our policy is "whoever gives us most money" and is maintaining relations with both China and United States. Also if we are truly pro-Palestine, the Indonesian government would not purchase Israeli spyware Pegasus, as covered by Tempo in June 2023(1)
2. "Prabowo is not what the US wanted."
After Prabowo become Ministry of Defense, his travel ban from the US was lifted and on 2023, he was welcomed and dined by Lockheed Martin and Boeing on his visit to the United States(2). Which secures him the purchases of American military hardware. Under his leadership in MoD, we also secure a bilateral agreement with the US to hold exercise in South Natuna Sea, which pisses of China obviously(3)
And just the last two days he has secured security treaty with Australia(4) and met with high ranking US Military Officials in Indonesia.
3. Kit Klanenberg article is full of false information, borderline fictional writing.
He calls UU Omnibus Cipta Kerja a mere "jobs creation bill", when it reality that bill deregulates many of our industry and removes tens of workers rights(5). The bills include provisions that would see the working class in Indonesia under more exploitative working conditions by the capital owners (something surely, the US loves). Which include the following but not limited to:
- removing the maximum year a worker is considered a contract worker before the company has to make them a full-time employee (Pasal 77A)
- erasing regional minimum wage (Pasal 88C)
- removing YoY inflation index as a mandatory parameter to increase salary and minimum wage (Pasal 88D)
- removing the mandatory requirement for companies to pay their workers the minimum wage (Pasal 91)
- removing marriage leave, menstrual leave, and grieving leave (Pasal 93 Ayat 2)
- deregulates the education and allowing private companies to enter the market through outsourcing teachers (Pasal 71)
And that's just tip of the iceberg.
The massive protest that is happening right now is because of yet another consitutional overreach. Constitutional overreach caused by Widodo himself. Last year, the Constitutional Court agreed to lower the age limit of presidential candidate just weeks before the registration for the candidate opens.
Court that were headed by Widodo's brother-in-law, Anwar Usman. And he did not recuse himself from the decision despite the fact the case that they heard was for Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Widodo's son.(6)
And now the Constitutional Court decided to not lower the age limit for regional candidates(7) and under Widodo's command, the legislative body tried to pass revisions to the Elections Act in under 9 hours(8), while at the same time, many of bills that would better the conditions of Indonesian people such as "Home Assistants Protection and Rights Act" has been stuck for 21 years(9), bills that were made to protect and provide rights for sexual abuse victims took 11 years to pass, and many more.
It is frankly not only embarrassing, but so out of touch from reality framework, to call our citizens. Our labour unions, our students. Who are mad, tired, and frustrated to see Widodo's destroying progress that were made under reformation so his family can create a political dynasty that would rule Indonesia for decades as a fucking CIA coup.
Do we people of the "global south" have no right to fight for our own rights and determination? Have you ever been to Indonesia even? Have you talk to any Indonesian leftist, activist, labour organizers, about the reality on the ground?
Have you talked with us? How frustrated we are at the current regime, how they are bending the rules and our law, so the president's sons can become a candidate in elections; while the Constitutional Court decide that entry level jobs that limit the age requirement to maximum of 25 years old is not considered a discrimination(10), despite the fact Indonesia has ratified ILO Discrimination Convention of 1985?
Have you ever talked to many of our gig economy workers? Who has not seen a single bill that would protect their rights, because Widodo is fully supportive of the liberalization of economy that these startups brought?
If your answer to these questions is no, then frankly, shut the fuck up and start reading Indonesian media and talk with us. Instead of basing your opinion on some shoddy, out of touch piece.
What I genuinely hate about American leftist like you, despite the fact we share the same despise to the American empire, you can't remove your American point of view out of your asses and start accusing movement elsewhere as being American-backed, because some leaders are pro-China or some shit.
Do you think China does not engage in the same imperialist politics like USA? Why the fuck do you think the so called "Jobs creations bill" was passed? It was because of demand from Chinese investors, Chinese capital owners. Who have shown no regards to Indonesian labour at all(11)
Our labour workforce, our students did not go down to the streets to be beaten up, to have their phone stolen and destroyed, to have one of their eye to be removed and now permanently blind due to the police brutality, to be fucking called a CIA coup.
We Indonesians are our own people, with our own dreams and hopes of a better tomorrow. A better tomorrow without political dynasties and out-of-touch, elite-only political consolidations.
I yield my time, fuck you.

Pagar kompleks DPR-RI itu memang mestinya dirobohkan. Halamannya biar jadi ruang publik. Kalau kompromi, pagarnya mundurkan seratus meter ke dalam, dekat-dekat bangunannya saja. Setuju? RT donk.
