My first conference since 2019: the @awscloud Summit in Toronto. Sure I'm taking a break from work, but I can't say no to a free conference. It was so rejuvenating to talk face to face to fellow practitioners and share our passions.

"There is no such thing as a free lunch" was challenged today. I found a table with a solitary diner and struck up conversation. They're working on bringing compute capacity to the far north of Canada, both for military needs and for Indigenous communities.

@newrelic "drank their own champagne" (that's a new one for me) by building an observability product for cloud migrations and used it on their own migration to EKS. Cloud migrations are hard, and I like this application of #o11y to help cross that bridge safely.

I was walking along the moonlit Topsail Beach NC, there was a pinpoint brighter than Betelgeuse or Sirius, then faded to invisible. No apparent movement relative to the other stars. No satellites according to online trackers. I saw it for around five seconds. Junk or #ufosighting

Cyberwarfare is not a joke. I and my team are a bit busy with quickly re-learning how to use our security engineering skills in this new environment.

Maybe they will let us share some of our cases after our victory.
