The Queensboro Bridge upgrade is one of many crucial "Connecting to the Core" upgrades that remain on the back burner, despite the intention to implement the projects alongside the launch of congestion pricing. https://t.co/0OHJJWMaXx
Citi Bike hit a historic milestone with 40 million trips in 2024 — & we’re on track to top 45 million rides once December numbers are in!
Citi Bike is transforming how NYC moves & redefining accessible transit, but affordability barriers still leave too many New Yorkers behind.
This morning around 10am I decided to see how congestion pricing affected local bus Q32 that runs from Jax Hts to city. (At a time I would never imagine taking it w/o CP.) Bus very popular w/seniors who avoid stairs & subway.
Verdict: noticeably FASTER traffic toward Manhattan
As a longtime resident of Dutch Kills north of the QBB, I’m excited to see how the Congestion Relief Program will improve quality of life in my neighborhood, a thoroughfare for aggressive, honking, crosswalk-blocking drivers avoiding the tolled QMT.
New Yorkers can’t afford for CitiBike to hike prices every few months. We need to tie the cost of a CitiBike ride to the cost of a subway fare to make it more accessible and affordable to choose cycling.

Rode on the new stretch of the McGuinness Blvd bike lane today 🙌. There are a lot of driveways and cut-outs to be aware of, plus I almost missed the (unmarked?) turn onto the Pulaski. #BikeNYC
On Saturday, a woman was tragically killed when a yellow cab jumped the curb on a Queens sidewalk after a crash on 115th Ave and Lefferts Blvd. The driver also injured two other pedestrians.
This marks the 120th pedestrian death in NYC this year — a 22% increase from last year.
Thank you @NYC_DOT for clearing the Queens Blvd #bikenyc lane this morning alongside the car lanes. It's actually the only lane being used! (I know, I know but let me use the bike haters logic just this once)
This spring, we installed safety improvements at the intersection of Seagirt Blvd and Fernside Pl in Queens, including:
🚦A new traffic signal
🚶♀️A new crosswalk across Seagirt Blvd
🧑🦽A new accessible concrete median & pedestrian ramps

It’s true! Back in February, we released a report highlighting how infrastructure upgrades like double-wide bike lanes, e-bike loading zones, and public chargers can make our streets safer.

This Wednesday, the City Council will hear legislation on Intros 606 and 1131.
Intro 1131 stands out — it offers real, actionable solutions to ensure safety for everyone on our streets, something Intro 606 simply doesn’t deliver.
We’re looking for an Associate Director of Digital Media and Marketing to join our team here at Transportation Alternatives.
