Courtney Morgan told us on signing day that at Alabama they were concerned with retention.

This means - Alabama - which will still dip in the portal, is primarily focused on high school recruiting and development as opposed to building rosters out of the portal.

Sure - they’re gonna take big swings and miss when schools like Texas are involved, but for those yelling for culture - how do you think that gets built? In the portal?

There were always going to be growing pains.

That culture you want so bad (which the recruits and parents we did interviews with last cycle all mentioned) will retain the talent THEY’VE recruited - as seen in the exits so far from Alabama. If I remember correctly - the only guys they recruited out of high school that they’ve lost are Micah Debose.

It’s also was impossible to build a culture while in limbo between Saban-era guys who are demanding big money with little production and new age guys coming in.

Sure - Indiana is doing it, but I’d argue they’re an outlier, an exception to the rule. We’ve also seen it go horribly wrong - 2024 FSU.

The culture at Alabama was shifting already before KDB got there - that’s a tough pill to swallow, but it was very apparent, especially on the O-line.

I think the staff currently at Bama has to take a good hard look at itself - sure, but the sky isn’t falling nearly as quickly as all the Chicken Littles with no profile pictures would have you believe.

The roster in Tuscaloosa will be among one of the most talented in the country in 2026 - it’ll be young, and shallow if they don’t keep portal dipping, but it won’t be a mosaic of 24 year olds like some people want bc they’re overreacting to Cignetti and Indiana.

We’ll also get a first hand look at what that KDB culture actually looks like. Not saying it’ll be great, but I am saying - if you don’t wanna roll with us to find out - go buy Texas stuff.
