I think the way Manchester United and Michael Carrick have handled the Marcus Rashford situation has been very professional.

“I’d have no problem with the club giving Marcus a second chance, but after everything that’s happened, it wouldn’t be fair to take the No.10 shirt away from Matheus Cunha and give it straight back to Marcus. I don’t think that would sit well with Cunha either.

“The No.14 could actually be a good thing for Marcus. It takes some of the pressure off him, and it’s a number he’s already worn at Barcelona, so I don’t see him having a problem settling into it.

“Whatever happened, I genuinely wish Marcus all the best. But credit has to go to the board and Michael Carrick for the way they’ve handled this. Sometimes you have to make decisions that are best for the team, and I think they’ve done that.”
