Saliva cortisol can be used to diagnose adrenal insufficiency, according to a new study.

Salivary cortisol 60 minutes after 250-µg cosyntropin has high diagnostic accuracy in detecting adrenal insufficiency and is particularly useful in women on oral estrogens

An saliva cortisol ≥ 12.6 nmol/L assayed with liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry 60 minutes after 250 µg cosyntropin is normal.

It was great to restart our monthly meetings at the Pituitary Tumor Program at UC-CHRISTUS! This time, Pamela Jones MD and @ledichtel from MGH gave us a talk on the perspectives of an endocrinologist and a neurosurgeon on interesting pituitary cases.
