Something to ponder as you head out to vote today, for free. In the Library's Rosa Parks Papers collection, there's a receipt for the poll tax she had to pay to vote in Alabama in 1956. Poll taxes, a Jim Crow-era voter suppression tool, were not abolished federally until 1964.

Farmer was arrested by Amarillo police on Sept. 12 in an unrelated case for indecency with a child sexual contact. He was released from the Randall County Jail the next day on a $75k bond.
In 2006, Farmer pleaded guilty to 4 counts of indecency w a child sexual contact. He was sentenced to 6 years “DEFERRED”.
3 years later, a lawsuit against Paramount Baptist Church, where Farmer worked from 1995-2004, was settled.
