Fatal Loveland Traffic Crash – Highway 402 and County Road 7
On Thursday, April 16, just before 8 a.m., a fatal traffic crash occurred on Highway 402 near the intersection of County Road 7.
A Suzuki GSX motorcycle, operated by a 23-year-old Loveland male, traveled eastbound on Highway 402 approaching County Road 7. A GMC Acadia, driven by a 47-year-old Greeley female, traveled westbound and attempted a left turn onto County Road 7. As the Acadia initiated the turn, it entered the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the Acadia, ejecting the rider.
Officers arrived and determined the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the Acadia sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Preliminary findings indicate speed from the motorcyclist contributed to the crash. Investigators do not consider drugs or alcohol as factors.
Due to the severity of the crash, the Loveland Police Department CRASH Team responded and assumed the investigation. The roadway remained closed for approximately three hours.
The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased motorcyclist at a later time.
The Loveland Police Department extends heartfelt condolences to everyone affected. Incidents like this carry a heavy weight, and our thoughts remain with those impacted.
We thank our partner agencies, including Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, Thompson Valley EMS, Colorado Department of Transportation, Longmont Police Department, and Johnstown Police Department, for their assistance and for helping maintain scene safety.

There is a Japanese legend that says:
“The sun and moon used to love each other, but because of their time differences, they don't meet. So, God created the eclipse for them to meet, so that people would know that there is no impossible love.” I felt it
