On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger delivered an order to finally enforce the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing 250,000 enslaved Black Texans. And it was 22 years after Juneteenth, on Aug. 15, 1887, that former slaves founded Eatonville – "the Town the Freedom Built.”

Today, I’m excited to join Eatonville Mayor Ruthi Critton to celebrate that freedom and to continue the fight for true justice and equality for all. Happy Juneteenth!

Not to distract from the other news of the day, but SCOTUS just confirmed 9-0 (tell me another issue uniting this court) that the government can’t restrict gun ownership over habitual weed use.

As Commissioner of Agriculture, it was a great matter of duty to lead this effort.

Pete Buttigieg? Really? No wonder Florida Democrats have been nearly wiped out.

As Transportation Secretary, Pete oversaw years of delays, supply chain disruptions, and travel chaos. Floridians remember waiting months for basic services while Washington failed to deliver.

And when those problems were piling up, he stepped away during the middle of the crisis.
