I remember how I felt when Biden was in office. Every day felt like a nightmare. The sense of helplessness is real and manifests in many ways, emotionally, spiritually and physically. LE GRAND MENSONGE DU BOYCOTT, L'HYPOCRISIE DU QUÉBÉCOIS MOYEN

C’est la phrase choc que l'un de nos bons Québécois a sortie fièrement dans le Journal de Montréal de ce matin.

Une belle grande déclaration de principe bien de chez nous, pleine de fierté et de conviction. Réconfortant comme une bonne soupe HABITANT.

Mais prenons deux minutes pour regarder la semaine typique de Gilles et Monique. Juste pour voir à quoi ça ressemble, le fameux boycott… en pratique.

Lundi matin

Gilles se réveille.

Il attrape son téléphone intelligent Apple (iPhone) ou Google (Pixel). Monique, elle, sort son Google Pixel.

Ils ouvrent Facebook pour lire les nouvelles et vont faire un petit tour sur Marketplace.

Dans la cuisine, Monique lance la cafetière avec du café Folgers, sort le lait canadien… wow du d'ici !, ouvre la boîte de Quaker, prépare les toasts avec le beurre de peanut Kraft, puis nettoie le comptoir avec du Windex et du Clorox.

Avant même 8 h, le couple a déjà fait tourner la Californie, l’Illinois, le Connecticut et le New Jersey. Et la journée ne fait que commencer.

Mardi après-midi

Gilles décide d’aller faire des commissions.

Il embarque dans sa Ford Mustang, chaussée de pneus neufs Goodyear.

Il branche Apple CarPlay et écoute Bruce Springsteen. Un détour obligatoire chez Home Depot pour acheter des vis et une nouvelle mèche DeWalt pour ses rénovations.

Sur le chemin du retour, il s’arrête mettre de l’essence chez Esso, paie avec sa carte Visa, puis attrape deux gros cafés chez Starbucks parce que Monique aime bien leur verre glacé.

Mercredi soir

Soir de ménage et d’épicerie.

Monique fait le tour du frigo et prépare la liste pour le Costco ou le Walmart du coin.

Dans le panier : jus Tropicana, céréales Cheerios, du Kraft Dinner, papier de toilette Charmin, savon Tide, dentifrice Crest, une bouteille de Heinz ketchup (en super spécial), un pot de Hellmann’s et une boîte d’Oreo, puis une caisse de Coca-Cola ou de Pepsi parce que les petits-enfants s’en viennent la fin de semaine.

Elle paie avec sa carte Visa.

Le soir venu, Gilles s’installe sur le divan, allume la télé intelligente avec le Roku, et lance une série sur Netflix.

Jeudi soir

Pas le goût de cuisiner.

Gilles propose de commander.

Un petit coup d’œil sur l’application Uber Eats.

Trente minutes plus tard, le livreur arrive avec une boîte de Pizza Hut pour Gilles et un sac de McDonald’s pour Monique, accompagnés de deux grandes Gatorade pour le lendemain.

Pendant qu’ils mangent, Monique fait défiler des vidéos sur Instagram et YouTube pour trouver sa prochaine recette de mijoteuse.

Vendredi et fin de semaine

C’est le départ pour le camping.

Gilles attache sa roulotte Jayco au Ford F-150.

Il ajuste le système de navigation Google Maps sur le tableau de bord.

Arrivés au camping, ils sortent le BBQ Weber, partent un petit feu avec le matériel Coleman, sortent les canettes fraîches de Budweiser de la glacière YETI, puis mettent de la musique sur Apple Music (ou Amazon Music, ça dépend des envies) pour relaxer sous l’auvent.

Le dimanche soir, en rentrant à la maison, Monique fait aller son majeur sur Facebook (en pensant à Donald) et tombe sur un sondage du Journal de Montréal. Elle regarde Gilles et clique fièrement sur l’option :

« Oui, je pense qu’on est capables de se priver des produits américains. »

Puis elle ouvre Amazon pour commander quelque chose en livraison Prime et jette un coup d’œil rapide sur Pinterest.

Voilà la triste réalité.

Cette petite sortie médiatique expose au grand jour à quel point trop de Québécois carburent à la fausse vertu, s’enfonçant à la fois dans le mensonge confortant pour les habitants et l’ignorance.

Incapables d’identifier ce qui vient réellement du sud de la frontière, ils se pavanent avec des grands principes vides alors que toute leur existence est sous perfusion américaine.

Essayez donc de réécrire mon texte et de remplacer chaque marque, chaque service et chaque produit par une alternative 100 % canadienne.

Vous allez rapidement réaliser que vous allez devoir travailler fort… en maudit et que vous allez écrire une fiction.

P.S. Et pour ceux qui pensaient se rabattre sur un bon bol de confort bien de chez nous, sachez que même la célèbre soupe Habitant appartient aujourd'hui à The Campbell Soup Company, le géant américain basé au New Jersey.

Oui oui, le symbole historique de notre patrimoine culinaire, créé en 1918 par la famille Phaneuf, est lui aussi passé sous le contrôle de l'Oncle Sam.
