I take very good care of myself. I don’t take any prescriptions. However, I did have a very expensive hospital stay recently, with surgery, for reasons not of my making. I would have lost my nest egg and/or my house even with Medicare without the supplemental. Who gets all that money?

The year I bought my first house, I made $2/hr. I spent $20 a week for groceries—mostly ingredients. We went out to eat on people’s birthdays. I made my own clothes and the curtains and did minor upholstery on the used furniture we bought. We had one car. Gas doubled in price that year.
