The refusal to acknowledge the experience of people with disabilities, communication difficulties, sensory or cognitive difficulties, or how it would be to live in a faceless nursing home

I think the cacophony over the latest Cochrane review on masks results largely from a flawed or outdated understanding of EBM and “hierarchy of evidence”. Systematic reviews don't sit at the top of the hierarchy, Trish does.
The city of Frankfurt announced that it was canceling a forthcoming Roger Waters concert yesterday, labelling him as “one of the world’s best-known antisemites”.
Also yesterday, Waters met with Jeremy Corbyn, the world's unluckiest "anti-racist".
The most important lesson from covid is that disregarding opportunity costs and basic fiscal competency for political vanity projects*, made both the politicians and public feel better at the time.

Claiming RCTs of masks are invalid because people don’t wear them properly is utterly upside down
This isn’t what invalidates RCTs - it’s what invalidates the lab studies
If your intervention falls apart when subjected to its end user, that’s what counts

The prevalence of frailty in older adults increased steadily during the COVID pandemic in Japan. Of note, there were few COVID cases during this time arguing that infection control measures are not benign and have significant tradeoffs for older adults. https://t.co/Y2TONBRsOA
This is the last photo I have of my son. The simplest of medical interventions would have saved him. I won’t stop pushing 4 change until the fundamental systemic, cultural & ideological problems in our maternity system that led to his death are resolved once & for all.
"People who are supposed to care, but instead rolled their eyes, sneered and dismissed me when I raised the alarm and asked for their help. People who ignored their training, hospital policies and the very basics of even half decent care."

There were certain big name “bookings” that thrilled Whitehall with their support for even stronger restrictions - it was so so much more desirable if they came from polar opposite political spectrum. @OwenJones84 was one of them
Sad fact is a significant proportion of breast cancer diagnoses result in metastasis, even if you do everything right. I cannot express how much I despise the way women are made to feel this is in any way their fault. Enjoy a glass of wine & some crisps. My mum wished she did.
Love this story from the Talmud, which suggests that Chanukah, Christmas and other winter festivals all have a common source that goes right back to Adam in Eden
Merry Christmas to all, may we have more light in our days (and we will!)
This didn't protect his victims
A pattern of escalating violence where he desperately tried to be worse than his relative combined with the well known danger women face when discovering they are pregnant whilst in an abusive, controlling relationship with a violent man

A year ago today, I asked Sage’s Graham Medley how Sage chooses its Covid “scenarios”. At the time, its range was 600 to 6,000 daily deaths: the actual didn’t come close.
Even now, we still have no idea why Sage chose to present those figures to the Cabinet.
This is incredible.
Changing life in remarkable ways to avoid COVID so you can catch it 6-10 months later than the average person.
But if other people refuse to mask they will eventually infect you because as we learned from Ferrer masks prevent transmission but not exposure.
