Upon entering the back bedroom, officers discovered a man, later identified as Matthew James Pausche, actively hovering over a highly distressed woman to the floor alongside a bed.
The situation escalated instantly as officers moved into the tight space, shouting commands for Pausche to get away from the woman and put his hands behind his back.
Recognizing the high volatility of the situation and the immediate threat to the victim, an officer drew a taser, keeping it aimed and ready to deploy if the suspect resisted.
Facing the immediate threat of less-lethal force, Pausche ultimately complied with the officers' orders, allowing himself to be handcuffed and moved out of the residence without the taser ever needing to be fired.
Once secured in the back of a squad car, Pausche was read his Miranda rights. When questioned by officers about what had transpired inside the home, his compliance ended entirely. He declined to offer any details, simply stating: "I got nothing to say to you."
