wip character from my game. onto the texturing. still feel like i need to mess w/ proportions a lil bit, but feeling a lot more confident with this guy than how he looked the first pass.
steam deck finally got me to cave and switch to linux on both my pcs. for the very occasional tinkering i have to do to get what i want working on it, it’s still better than having ads integrated into my taskbar and having to opt out of onedrive every third weekend of the month.
imagine if ppl talked about film as unintelligent as gamers talk about video games. “yea not interested in checking out stalker. besides, all tarkovsky’s films are kinoslop anyways.”
since everyone is asking
themeslop is a term (mainly) used for games that are story focused with no real gameplay involved.
take mouthwashing & iron lung for examples
although this is a very basic understanding of the term
been working on just the bare essentials for my game, trying to nail down character movement. built a quick and dirty character controller in godot prototyping the third-person and fixed camera system i wanna use. ignore the cs_office i'm just using it for testing.
Love RE4 to death, but the shift from fixed to over the shoulder camera completely lobotomized AAA game aesthetics. Wanna play a game w/ state of the art graphics and interesting in-game cinematography in 2025? Your only choices are The Medium and David Cage games. Fucking dire.
@HikikomoriMedia The “Soulless cash-grab” argument always falls flat for me because like you said with literature, there are so many mainstay films like 1983’s Scarface or The Thing that are revered remakes even amongst the movie equivalent of gamer purists that absolutely no one complains about
the losers doom posting and pearl clutching about the wizard of oz las vegas sphere installation using ai to remove grain and to not have to project a movie shot in 4:3 on a 16,000 x 16,000 screen are so annoying they’re gonna convert me to being pro-ai.
@fishtankislive just putting in my vote that the 70s period stuff in season 2 was super cool, could be a different decade but if you guys can’t fit it into the story of the show maybe not worth it to avoid coming off as surface level nostalgia bait.
