Isn't it kinda wild too that everything he praises in Olivia is what he criticised in Halsey. They both made albums with a focus on storytelling and musical references. I guess it's less main character syndrome to have a dying relationship than it is to have a dying body?
that man’s callous reduction of women’s health issues to a “main character syndrome” should be remembered to devalue his opinions, but what halsey did with the great impersonator will be remembered as a remarkable feat of vulnerability that became the voice to millions of women
a lot of you are being very disingenuous about why halsey reacted to it. it's not because it was a bad score but it was how he talked about her. why can't she be the main character of her own story? it's a very normal thing songwriters have done for decades. even in stories where more people are involved but this one was just about her
I want to say one last thing, and that's you can dislike an album all you want, that was never the issue, the issue is saying Halsey has "main character syndrome" for writing an album while dying of cancer and thinking it would be the last album they would ever make.
